Summary
1919: Nach seiner Flucht aus russischer Kriegsgefangenschaft schlägt sich der Soldat Franz Tunda durch Osteuropa nach Österreich durch. Auf seiner Odyssee fällt er erst der Weißen und dann der Roten Armee in die Hände, verliebt und trennt sich in Georgien und landet schließlich in Wien. Immer auf der Suche nach einem Halt, hangelt er sich weiter von Ort zu Ort, von einer Frau zur nächsten. Doch wohin es ihn auch verschlägt, der junge Mann findet keinen Platz mehr in der wohlgeordneten Nachkriegswelt.
