Der Schriftsteller Alain-Fournier schrieb den Roman Le Grand Meaulnes (deutsch: Der große Kamerad) im Jahr 1913. Er spielt in den 90er Jahren des 19. Jahrhunderts. Der Ich-Erzähler ist der jüngere Freund der Hauptfigur Augustin Meaulnes (gesprochen "Mon"). Er berichtet über dessen Schulzeit, Abenteuer und die unerfüllte Liebe zu der schönen und zerbrechlichen Adeligen Yvonne de Galais.
