 In Ostfriesland ist das sogenannte Boßeln Volksport. Ein Spiel, welches mit Kugeln aus Holz oder Gummi auf der Straße gespielt wird. Solche Kugeln tauchen plötzlich an diversen Tatorten auf, hinterlassen von einem unbekannten Täter.
Die Kripo steht vor einem Rätsel. Erst als sich der ehemalige Polizist Lorant in seiner Eigenschaft als Privatdetektiv in die Fälle einschaltet, kommt die Sache buchstäblich ins Rollen. Ein verzwicktes Katz- und Mausspiel beginnt und Lorant muss hinnehmen, dass der unbekannte "Küstenkiller" auch für ihn eine persönliche Kugel parat hält.
