About this listen

What happens when the hunter becomes the hunted?

Before that night, there wasn’t much in my life I could complain about. I hunt rogue demons for a living, which is the coolest thing ever, and my brothers are the best. Sure, there was that thing with our parents betraying humanity, and okay, I wasn’t thrilled when my brother-bestie hooked up with a demon, but everything else was amazing.

Except that Dylan, the person I love more than anything, wanted to keep our relationship secret.

I got it; I really did. He’s lost all his family, and he was afraid if my family adopted him, he might lose them too. It’s not like we’ve got the world’s safest jobs. I was sure he’d change his mind eventually.

That decision was taken from him one awful night. Now, everyone knows, but Dylan’s more worried about the people trying to kill me. Unidentified and vicious; that’s all we know. Oh, and they hacked The Collective’s server.

How does a demon hunter fight a virtual threat? He doesn’t… that’s his kickass techie boyfriend’s job. Dylan will find these people, and then we’ll deal with them.

Even if there is more going on than we know about.

I know LM loves to write comedy, but I honestly think she's at her best writing stories with a little less fluff and fun and a little more grit. This series is a brilliant example, and this book is almost not a classic romance because the two main characters are already together at the start, although they sure are having some relationship issues that occur in and around the plot, and they do end on a HEA for the characters where they started in a more uncertain and insecure place.

I wasn't sure at the start that this structure was going to work, but it really did because this is a pretty intensely plot driven book. And the plot is SO interesting!!! I was delighted to hear more about Mark and his struggles and successes integrating into at least some of human society. The [spoiler tag - you'll know when you get to it] part of the plot really shed a lot of light on some of Mark's POV thoughts from book 1.

I'm here in 2026 and just really hoping LM continues this series. I expect these books take longer to write with the plotting and world building that must go into them but they're very much worth the wait.

Amazing narration, too: I'm going to look for other books read by GB now since he's impressed me so much.

Didn’t like the second book the beginning of the relationship was missing and just started right into it months later.
But the feels were still there ☺️

The story the humour was hilarious and the love was realistic

The story was fabulous, Matt and Dylan got their HEA, and we got more of our favourite Higher Demon.
Greg Boudreaux brought everyone to life just perfectly, and I loved every minute of this.

Perfection
