Such an important book

It's so hard to know where to even start with this review. This book is so helpful and important. It's a compassionate and gentle but highly practical guide and anyone dealing with dementia in the family should get it, it's full of great advice. It also includes aspects that often tend to be forgotten about, at least in the beginning, like making sure you're properly taking care of yourself as well to avoid getting completely depleted of energy to care for someone else. It's all so tricky and heartbreaking and books like this are of tremendous help!!! Thank you to the author.

This is excellent to help understand dementia

My mother is starting to develop dementia. So far, it isn't too advanced, but this book helped me understand what to expect in the coming years. I particularly found the chapter about challenging behaviors helpful. Thanks for writing this book. I am sure it will be helpful to many people.

An Absolute Winner!

I had no clue that 70% of Americans age 65 and older suffer from some form of dementia. That is insane! I also had no clue how serious this illness is until this audiobook. This audiobook most definitely took me to school. I learned that although dementia usually involves memory loss, memory loss has different causes. Having memory loss alone doesn't mean you have dementia, despite the fact that it is often one of the early signs of it. I’ve also learned that depending on the cause, some dementia symptoms might be reversible. This is a really great book for everyone in America because this is most certainly a problem in this country. We all sometimes forget things, but most people would have no clue when memory issues can be symptoms of early onset stages of dementia. This book is jam-packed with very important information on dementia, Alzheimer and cognitive decline. This audiobook is an absolute winner! I recommend that you also grab a copy of the hard cover or paperback version to add to your home library.

Dementia Detangled

My grandmother had Alzheimer's Dementia and man I wished I knew half of the stuff contained in this audiobook. I could have helped take care of her. The information within is very useful for not only understanding the condition, but also how to prepare for it when it starts to show up.

If you are a professional caregiver or a family caregiver, you'll find a lot of practical applications and solutions in this audiobook. The narrator is good and can empathize with the listener. Highly recommend.

A Compassionate Guide to the subject

This is such a sensitive topic. It is never pleasant to learn that a family member has dementia. This audiobook has been written and researched with respect and compassion. Significantly, the practical considerations for daily care were covered in conjunction with the broader legal and medical implications of such a diagnosis.

An Amazingly useful book!

As someone who is a caregiver, I was keen to access this book. I find the information comprehensive and delivered in a considerate tone, very effective indeed. There is so much to know about this illness which affects so many people, not only those in their senior years.

Those who are charged with caring for people with cognitive decline will benefit tremendously from this book. It will enhance their understanding of the condition and will help them to use strategies to manage the situation. They will benefit immensely from the book in general and from Chapter 8 in particular. This covers caregiver wellness – the foundation of everything, for if you are not keeping well yourself, you will not be able to care for others effectively.

Very informative about cognition and Alzheimer's

This book is simple to grasp and easy to listen to. It is an excellent manual for both the patient's and the caregiver's care. In order to grasp what can be anticipated, I also found the explanations of how the sickness can progress to be quite helpful. Anyone whose life has been impacted by dementia should read this book. The caregiver can definitely benefit from this book's explanations of what is occurring to their loved one. She goes into excellent detail about what is happening. I thoroughly loved reading this book and came out feeling happy rather than depressed, as some books about dementia may. I strongly suggest Dementia Untangled.

Supportive and an important resource

I am at the beginning of dealing with a parent with dementia. This author has created a book that is well-written, organized, supportive, and informative. The narrator has a calm and clear tone that is pleasant. This is the kind of book that I didn't want to read because I am afraid of what lies ahead, but I found it helpful and supportive to go through all the detailed content. Everything from explanations of different forms of dementia, dealing with care, how to speak to your loved ones, and ways to support others in the family is included in this book. I appreciate the author's experience in this area and advice for dealing with all the emotions, stresses, and complications that arise. I will be listening to this book again and sharing it with family members as we move forward in our journey with dementia. I recommend this book to anyone who is dealing with these challenges.
