The author has crafted a well-written and narrated audiobook that answers the questions that we don't know to ask when faced with a loved one in the throes of Dementia. In addition to listing early signs, the book discusses what Dementia is, what causes it, and whether or not it can be prevented. Particularly helpful is the chapter "In Their Shoes," which walks the listener through what a person with Dementia is thinking and feeling. Later, the author details what one can expect in a Dementia patient, including behavior and personality changes, daily functioning, and "The Seven Stages of Dementia". I also found the sections on early diagnosis and how dementia affects the caregiver and their relationship with the patient, particularly helpful. The book is well thought-out and presented in a loving and caring manner, and contains a wealth of information on just about any topic a caregiver might encounter with their loved one who has Dementia. I highly recommend it to anyone in this situation.

It is a comprehensive guide that covers various aspects of dementia, providing valuable insights and practical advice for both individuals facing dementia and their caregivers. In Chapter 2, "In Their Shoes," the book delves into the subjective experience of individuals with dementia, and this chapter resonated with me on a personal level. It reminded me of a close relative's struggle with dementia and how challenging it was to understand their perspective. Noor Fatima's exploration of what dementia feels like, the alternate reality it creates, and the behavioral and personality changes experienced by individuals with dementia offers an empathetic understanding. The chapter goes beyond facts, providing a compassionate lens for listeners to comprehend the emotional journey of those living with dementia. Courtney Pinkerton's narration adds a comforting and empathetic tone to the book.

Practical advice!
