About this listen

Zecia is burning.

Years of desperate resistance wasn't enough to stop the Kan-Tanu Cult's advance. The frontlines are collapsing, and its scattered forces are busy saving themselves. The powerful outsiders have already given up on the war, instead focusing on collecting seals for Ultom's imminent appearance.

Zac is unwilling to give up on Zecia and the Atwood Empire, and he has a plan to turn the situation around. He needs to find the Centurion Base and use its powerful weapons to defeat the cult. It won't be easy. The ancient base is hidden in the depths of enemy territory, and the powerful factions are eyeing his seals. But if its to protect his home, Zac will navigate both spatial storms and uneasy alliances.

I have been waiting for this book to come out in Audible as the narrator is one of my favourite on the platform. the book was good - its like a good staple to go back to - the author writes well and gets a lot of things right. as is my custom I read book 14 again before I read book 15 so that should tell you that all the books are well written as I have read each book twice.
I'm giving a 4 star on the story because its becoming harder to keep remembering who all the characters are and it would help to have a section of the beginning of the book that explains who all the people are again - I spent a good 10 min trying to figure out when we met a certain character only to realise they were new.

I will read this book again when book 16 comes out - we could use a tournament arc but that might only happen in book 17/18.

Great solid quality book

Great series but felt like a lot of filler in this one, lots of descriptive language but not much story progression.

overall worth it but was a struggle to get through this edition.

performance was great as always

If you have been listening to the book back to back, it might make sense, but I eventually caught up to the previous book and returned to this one after a while. When I did come back, I could not jump right back in the same manner I could with other books. This book felt like it had too many things going on with too many characters in the story, lacking sufficient value.

I would still recommend it to people who have been listening to it, but I don't think I personally will continue, especially considering I couldn't even finish this book due to having no idea who anyone else besides the MC was, and I don't even know where he is.

Too many things happening to remember it all

I still like Zack and care about what happens to him; I still enjoy the progression and the mechanics of the universe; but I am now getting lost with the huge cast of characters, companions and enemies. I would much prefer the core team to stay the same and introduce new enemies to destroy but got confused with the sheer volume of parallel storylines going on. It has been going this way for a few books now but it has crossed the point of coherence for me now.

To appreciate it fully I feel like I have to go back 4 books each time a new one comes out. The pre-hegemon books were far more focussed and as such the story seemed far more coherent. Not sure I will give book 16 a go, which is a shame when I have invested so much time in the characters.

Getting too complicated for casual listening now unfortunately
