About this listen

Israel Defense Force Brigadier General Gal Hirsch has taken part in all of Israel's military confrontations since 1982, leaving a unique signature on a wide scope of strategic thinking owing to his deep understanding of operational art and military planning. In 2009, Hirschs autobiographical book in Hebrew, War Story, Love Story, was published and instantly appeared on the Israeli best seller list where it stayed for many months. The description of his own personal journey offers deep, open-minded, and critical insights into the most significant milestones in Israel's defense in the past 30 years, in which he played a key role.

This new, revised, and reconceived English edition of the book offers international listeners a comprehensive, one-of-a-kind, contextual description of Israeli national defense developments, serving as a valuable tool for understanding contemporary security challenges in the Middle East. The book has been praised as a lesson in leadership, bravery, and endurance. It is a remarkable testimony to the bond between the Jewish people and its Bible and land.

A riveting story of courage and heroism in the face of adversity dealing with enemies both inside and outside of Israel. Superb insight, telling a gripping story of the reality of an army constantly a step away from war, and what happened when that step into conflict had to be taken.
Also a quick mention about the narrator, so many time’s they are monotone and can spoil a good book, however this narrator was excellent and helped convey the writer’s emotions throughout.

A must read !

This book sounds like it was read on fast forward, by a West End actor, in the style of a children's story and recorded in a small toilet cubicle.
The actor would be fine for roles he is suited for but he is definately not suited to this and it made it incredibly hard to listen to. I couldn't take it in properly as moments of gravity sounded like a teddy bears tea party.

Performance ruined book
