Story
From CWA Gold Dagger winner Mick Herron comes a shocking, twisted novel of psychological suspense. Twenty-six-year-old Maggie Barnes is someone you would never look at twice. Living alone in a month-to-month sublet in the huge city of London, with no family but an estranged sister, no boyfriend or partner, and not much in the way of friends, Maggie is just the kind of person who could vanish from the face of the earth without anyone taking notice. Or just the kind of person MI5 needs....

Terrible, terrible narration
I stuck it out for almost two chapters before I realised that I was never going to be able to get used to the actress’s awful accent and voice.

Easy listen
This was a good book if bounty hunters are your thing as it had all the right ingredients. The only thing that started to grate half way through was the staccato nature of the text when things were being emphasised or got tense. It seemed to happen a lot and broke the flow IMO. That aside I enjoyed it.

Wish I’d read the book instead
The story is great and interesting, but my god why did they pick the most grating voice to narrate the whole damn thing. It’s so bad it makes me not want to listen to any follow up stories, which is a right shame as - like I said - it is a good story

Ticks every box for crime fiction and then some!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, it is edge of the seat thrilling. My friends would love it.
What did you like best about this story?
It's refreshing having a strong female lead. The writing is confident and well paced.
What does Jennifer Woodward bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Jennifer's ability to change voice for various characters really adds depth.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
If I told you that I would spoil it for others, needless to say, this may be a crime book, but it sure does have a lot of heart.

Great story!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, if they are fans of suspense/thrillers. It was a really good listen.
What does Jennifer Woodward bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
She did really good with the accent, it wasn't too harsh, just enough southern accent to be easy on the ears. She really did a great job.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
He said it was an easy job, she will find out he was wrong.
Any additional comments?
The author sends us on a pretty wild ride. Lori thought it was going to be an easy bounty hunter job, has her kid with her and all of a sudden things go so horribly wrong.
Lori is a great character, she is tough, but gentle as she has a kid. She tries to do what is right for her kid and needed the money this job would bring, she couldn't have known it would end up how it did.
If your a suspense/thriller fan then you should give it a try!
