A treasure to die for?

Join Freya and Aunt Carole for more sleuthing in the second instalment in your new favourite crime series, The Antique Hunters. The Antique Hunter's: Death on the Red Sea is a cosy crime read for fans of the Antiques Roadshow.

When a painting vanishes from a maritime museum – and a dead body is found nearby – the newly established Lockwood Antique Hunter’s Agency are called to investigate.

Following a lead that takes them aboard a glamorous antiques cruise sailing toward the Red Sea in Jordan, they quickly discover that the ship's art gallery is filled with stolen antiquities. In chasing a murderer with a stolen painting, they may have found something more sinister than they could’ve imagined . . .

Their hunt soon turns deadly when they learn that the enigmatic and dangerous art trafficker named The Collector could be on board. But on a ship full of antiques enthusiasts – plus some unexpected familiar faces – will Freya and Carole be able to discover The Collector’s identity and stop his murderous plans before the ship docks?

Or will the killer strike again?

Critic reviews

The perfect modern cosy. Great characters, great story and you're always eager for the next one. (Ian Moore, author of Death and Croissants )
CL Miller does it again - clever, twisty, and enormously fun, The Antique Hunter’s Death on the Red Sea is the perfect second adventure for antique hunter Freya and her glamorous Aunt Carole. Expertly laid breadcrumbs take the reader on a deep-dive into the world of black market antiques, with the perfect balance of action, international antique-hunting flair, and of course Aunt Carole’s signature wit. (Kristen Perrin, author of How to Solve Your Own Murder )
The Antique Hunter's Death on the Red Sea is such a joy – jam-packed with secrets, suspense and characters who simply leap off the page. I was utterly swept up in the world of antiques and art theft, reveling in the peril on the high seas, rooting for Freya Lockwood and the iconic Aunt Carole on every page! Congratulations to C.L. Miller for a magnificent instalment in the Antique Hunters series – and roll on Book 3! (Alex Hay, author of The Housekeepers )
Freya and Aunt Carole, everyone’s favourite antique-hunting, mystery-solving duo, return in a sequel that somehow manages to be even more captivating than their first adventure. Rich with enigmatic artifacts and antiquities, full of intriguing characters with secrets to spare, and sparkling with all the charm of the classics of the Golden Age of Detective Fiction, Antique Hunter’s Death on the Red Sea is a delightful, page-turning caper that invites readers to lose themselves in the twists and turns of this memorable voyage. (Tom Ryan, author of The Treasure Hunters Club )
C L Miller a writer of that rarest vintage, painting beautiful words to create a compelling story. This is another classic and I tore through this gripping and gratifying mystery. (Maz Evans, author of Over My Dead Body )
Come sail away with your new favorite investigative duo. But keep your wits about you because art, like life, can be deceptive and even dangerous. Will Freya and Carole figure out who the real collector is before it’s too late? It’s a delight to find out. (Catherine Mack, author of Every Time I Go On Vacation, Someone Dies )
An intriguingly complex locked-cruise-ship mystery filled with wonderful characters, murdery twists, humor, and fascinating antiquities details, Miller’s The Antique Hunter’s Death on the Red Sea is a page-turning delight from start to finish. I enjoyed it every bit as much as I thought I would! (Celeste Connally, author of Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Lord )
Antique’s hunter, Freya, is back in this riotously entertaining voyage to the Red Sea. The story thumps along at a rate of knots as C L Miller delivers another expertly plotted and intriguing mystery. (Jessica Bull, author of Miss Austen Investigates )

Basically great idea/story but confusing in places because of poor character definition. Disjointed in places.

Having listened to all the credits it emerged that the author had a hard time writing this book owing to a bereavement, maybe that's why it's disjointed in places.

Great story but not as good as first two books

I really enjoyed this! it's such a fun, clever mystery with the great mix of adventure and humour. Freya and Carol are such a brilliant duo, I love how they bounce off each other.
The setting felt really unique and Immersive, and I was hooked all the way through.
Cara's writing is smart witty and full of charm can't wait to see where the next story takes them.

Brilliant

Loved almost everything about this second book in the series. Congratulations to E.L. Miller on a sequel to her first excellent novel living up to expectations. Well written, well paced, likeable characters and a fascinating insight into the world (and underworld) of antiques. The author being part of the Miller’s Antiques family gives authenticity. So well read by Emilia Fox. My only criticism is (I assume) of the publishers. Why, oh why, must we have thoroughly English characters using Americanisms which they would never use? Each one made me wince. Let’s give American readers credit and assume they can understand English. Then we can all enjoy English novels as they should be.

Thoroughly enjoyable read.

I loved getting lost in C L Miller's underworld of the antiques trade again. Perhaps even better than book 1 which was one of my favourite reads of last year. Fabulously narrated by the talented Emila Fox this was a true joy.
