About this listen

A luxurious island. A mysterious invitation. A deadly secret

When amateur sleuth Charlotte "Charlie" Reed receives an invitation to a lavish weekend on a secluded island, she thinks it's the perfect opportunity to boost her fledgling detective agency. But when the enigmatic host turns up dead, it's clear this won't be the relaxing getaway anyone had in mind.

With the storm cutting off communication and all escape routes, Charlie must navigate a house full of eccentric guests—all with dark secrets of their own. As tensions rise and accusations fly, it becomes a race against time to uncover the murderer before they strike again.

Death by Invitation is a charming cozy mystery filled with intrigue, suspense, and unexpected twists. Perfect for fans of whodunits with a sprinkle of humor and a dash of danger.

Listen now and sleuth the clues today!

I think (based on the authors note) all the characters were named after friends / fans of the author and they got their moment in the book.

I hope they enjoyed it.
I’m not sure anyone else will.
It’s almost so bad it’s good combining every trope from “and then there were none” and a hint of “Clue” as well but the best I can say in absolutely honesty is at least it’s short.

If you make it through the prologue where far too many characters are introduced and all have their own dramatic reading of their invitation then you’ll probably carry on in the hope that at least some of them die. Just to ease up on the characters. Non Spoiler warning - they don’t 🤣
If ever there was a time for a mass poisoning it would definitely have been around chapter 2.

Also - why, with an almost completely female based cast, was the narrator a male?
Two characters out of everyone was male. Not even the main narrator was a male.
Fair play to him he acted his little heart out whether it was needed or not. Non spoiler warning - it wasn’t.

I assume this was a passion project

Just - dont bother. The narrator didnt help the poor storyline either. So many sighs, so many mentions of trusty this and trusty that. Just so awful. What a ridiculous story and pathetic characters.

Deary me
