About this listen

With all hope of an appeal fading away, the fate of a condemned murderess takes a shocking turn in a breathtaking short story by the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Housemaid.

Talia Kemper is on death row for murdering her husband. She had an alibi and no known motive, yet Talia’s unwavering protestations of innocence have always been ignored. Then one day in the visiting area, she sees a recognizable stranger she’s certain is her husband. It turns out the man she’s been convicted of killing may not be dead after all. But as the days tick away toward Talia’s execution, what will it take for her to be believed?

Freida McFadden’s Death Row is part of Alibis, a collection of stories about lies, truth, and deception. It’s just a matter of what you can get away with. They can be read or listened to in one sitting.

I had the audiobook of this short story read by Lauryn Allman who is good.

I don’t usually read short stories, but I couldn’t resist this one.

I felt the authors voice is more mature in this story, I wouldn’t have recognised the writing style. It’s got her trade mark twists, and is very entertaining. I loved it.

Good twists as expected with this author

Glad it was free from Audible catalogue.
Don’t think I’ll buy any more by this author.
Bored.

Only found this ok. Bit slow. Bit of a story that went nowhere. 3 stars 🌟🌟🌟

I never saw the ending coming! It really took me on an emotional journey and I couldn’t do anything but sit and listen for the last 4 chapters cause I was in the EDGE ON MY BEDDDD! Really well written and narrated but I feel a little sad now that I know it’s really over.

That was actually better than most of Freida's novels. It was a totally immersive and compelling listen. Highly recommended. Excellent narration.

Totally compelling

Firstly, the narrator is awesome. Reads in such a gripping way. Some of the men's voices are a little bit ropey but doesn't detract too much. Secondly, a great story which I would highly recommend. She lost me at the very end in the last couple of sentences which was a shame as everything was so cohesive up until then but it might be to leave the end intentionally vague. Anyway, listen and enjoy :)

Brilliant short story
