Story
Editors Randy Chandler and Cheryl Mullenax put the call out to horror writers and editors of extreme stories, the hardcore stuff that breaks boundaries and trashes taboos, the transgressive tales you can't "unread" (as Chuck Palahniuk says). Some of the stories you'll find here are loaded with very graphic descriptions of violence, sex, and depravities, while others may contain only one shocking moment of brutality. In others, the hardcore aspect may be less graphic and subtler than you might expect.

Very Different
One of the strangest books I've listened to, had a few sniggers along the way with Vincent and of course his long suffering wife who he's classed as a banshee. Very different one needs to listen to it to appreciate it and can be done in one sitting. Written by Frank J Edler new to me and narrated by Rob Gabaldon, in a good clear voice.

Death - a love story?
I loved this quirky story about the behind the scenes of death. Who knew it was in the book? The book had me laughing out loud - punch buggy, cowboy death, and many more. Ron Gabaldon, the narrator skillfully gave all the distinct characters their own voice. I’d say he brought the characters to life, but they were dead. Great book and great narration.

Fun take on the Death Industrial Complex
I have to admit that, at first, I really did not enjoy the book...a horrible horrible naggy wife with a terrible shrill voice, and a husband that was just a wimp. Everything really grated on me. The story annoyed me, the narration annoyed me, the characters annoyed me. But as the story progressed, I began to see glimmers of hope. Oh...the horrible voice kinda fits. and as more characters are introduced, the narrator begins to shine. And so does the story. I found it pulling me in, and everything started to fit. By the end, I found that I had enjoyed it and wanted more. Some of the characters were wonderful...and I especially loved La Petite Mort and the accountant.

Weird and Hilarious
Death Gets a Book, written by Frank J Edler, is probably the weirdest book I've had the pleasure of listening to in a while. The story revolves around Vincent Death, the latest Grim Reaper to get recruited, after dying horribly at a genuine Tijuana donkey show. If you don't know what that is... well, engage "incognito" mode before Googling it.
What follows is a hilarious tale of life after death for long-suffering Vincent. He's trying his hardest to fit in with all the other Deaths... but his first day on the job is ruined by his banshee ex-wife, Wanda.
Edler does a great job keeping all the various Deaths separated. There are a lot of them, so keeping track of Death talking to Death could get confusing, but fortunately Tijuana Death, Cowboy Death, Midget Death, and my personal favorite La Petite Mort (the miniature French Death). La Petite Mort speaks with an exaggerated, stereotypical French accent and drives a monster truck powered by a flux capacitor. This guy needs a story all of his own.
Vincent, clad in his Black Tattered Robe (tm), invokes the wrath of his former wife banshee and inadvertently kicks off a revolution that could bring down all that the Deaths have worked hard for.
Narration by Ron Gabaldon was good, although his Irish accent left me cringing on behalf of an entire people. The rest of the production was solid, with no noticeable production issues
All up, a short and fun story about being dead.
I was given this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. I have not let this gift affect nor influence my opinions of this audiobook and have left an honest review.
