Summary

July 1910. Lady Hardcastle and her tireless sidekick Flo have finally embarked on a long-overdue seaside break. But just as they’re wavering between ice creams and donkey rides, their fellow guests start to go missing - and the duo find themselves with a hysterical hotel manager and a case to solve.

The first to disappear is Dr Goddard, a scientist doing something terribly top-secret for the government. Gone too are his strongbox and its mysterious contents. By the time Lady Hardcastle has questioned the horde of international guests, her number-one suspect has been dispatched in grisly circumstances - and then the others start vanishing too.

As the case begins to look like a matter of national security, Lady Hardcastle takes advice from her brother in the secret service. But could there be an even more personal connection at play? To solve the case, Lady Hardcastle may face a shocking discovery of her own.

Another Hardcastle & Armstrong masterpiece

Yet another winner from the pen of T.E. Kinsey. Believable characters you warm to or loathe. A story that grips you & the wonderful relationship between the main characters. A joy. When's the next out???

It is what it is and that is a fun read !

As always, this was a fun and easy read.

Read well, i believe in all these characters.

my hubby and I listen in the car and he often sits laughing at their antics. We sit guessing the 'who done it'.

i would always recommend this author as i really enjoy his relaxed style.

They Just get better and better!

I loved this one, I’ve read them all so far (devoured might be more accurate!) and this is by far the most entertaining and gripping one. Thoroughly enjoyable. I really loved the spy element and feel of this novel and really feel the characters are becoming far more 3 dimensional when this hasn’t always been the case.

I was on the edge of my seat until very near the end, yes I worked out the different mystery elements but this time I truly cared about what happened to the characters especially the leads.

After all isn’t that a mark of a truly great character? When the reader truly does care what happens to these people they have shaped and sent in the way to adventure!

Please keep writing more like this and no more like the only one I really didn’t get on with the very cliched and prosaic “A Picture of Murder”. I would highly recommend all of the other titles though and cannot wait for the next!

LOVE this books !

These books just keep me wanting more. I love lady Hardcastle and Flo. a fantastic team.

The narration is top class. I see all the characters come alive with her narration.

The extra historical author notes at the end is a wonderful bonus.

On to the next book and hoping there will be many many more.

Thank you both author and narrator.

An Absolute Delight

These books never fail to entertain and delight - they are beautifully tongue-in-cheek, well written, the dialogue is wonderful, and the narrator magically adds another layer of greatness to voicing the various characters.

I cannot recommend these books enough, and this one in particular is a glorious addition to the series.

Seriously, a holiday?

For me, this is T E Kinsey back to full strength. The book is light, funny and impeccably read by Elizabeth Knowelden.

There is more than a nod to Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None" and a final solution to a puzzle that surfaced in A Picture of Murder.

I have to admit I pre-order any of T E Kinsey's books as I enjoy them so much but this one shone brighter than the previous two. Lady Hardcastle and Flo work so well together and this time Lady Hardcastle's brother Harry makes a more solid appearance (previously we saw the most of him in Death Around The Bend). I doubt the humour is contrived, it's just that I think the author has a wicked sense of humour and this translates into the prose.

Well done and will there be more please?

Excellent story of daring do

Superb combination of Ms Knowlden’s performance and T E Kinsey’s splendid characters and plot. Thank you both and I hope you have more books planned. They will certainly be on my radar and pre-orders.
