You can alter someone's feelings—and memories—but manipulating shadows has a cost, with the potential to take hours or days from your life. The Vega twins are alive. Those five words circle in my mind like an oncoming storm. They change everything about the future we thought had been set in stone. They challenge everything we were raised to be and the stability of the entire kingdom. They’re coming to our academy looking for the life that was stolen from them, but we can’t let them take it back. So much hangs in the balance and we can’t risk the arrival of two naïve princesses destroying everything we worked so hard for. I have stood in the shadow of Lionel Acrux for far too long already.

Summary
He’s known by many names: Thanatos. Horseman. God’s last angel. And then, of course, there's the one I’m all too familiar with...
Death.
The day Death comes to Lazarus Gaumond’s town and kills everyone in one fell swoop, the last thing he expects to see is a woman left alive and standing. But Lazarus has her own extraordinary gift: She cannot be killed—not by humans, not by the elements, not by Death himself.
She is the one soul Death doesn’t recognize. The one soul he cannot pry free from her flesh. Nor can he ignore the unsettling desire he has for her. Take her. He wants to, desperately. And the longer she tries to stop him from his killing spree, the stronger the desire becomes.
When Lazarus crosses paths with the three other horsemen, an unthinkable situation leads to a terrible deal: seduce Death, save the world. A hopeless task, made all the worse by the bad blood between her and Thanatos. But Death’s attraction to her is undeniable, and try though she might, Lazarus cannot stay away from that ancient, beautiful being and his dark embrace.
The end is here. Humankind is set to perish, and not even the horsemen can stop Death from fulfilling his final task.
Only Lazarus can.

everything dies, but it's not the end.
First off, this is absolutely amazing. It made me double over laughing in places, and cry my eyes out in others. what an explosive ending to my favourite series by Laura Thalassa, I'm also heartbroken that this is the last one in the series. I've come to love these four horsemen so much, and their feisty female partners. Pestilence will always be my favourite, but Famine, Death and War are every bit as fascinating and loveable. I have enjoyed their journeys, especially this last one with all 4 of them showing up. Without spoiling too much, Famine was totally fantastic in this. oh my god, I wish it wasn't over. I can't recommend this series enough, it's the most exciting and emotional story that has completely had me from page 1. I've read these several times, and will still pick it up again. I bought the paperbacks, ebooks and all of them here on audible too. This is a must read for anyone who isn't offended by brutal fights, and other more aggressive style captive scenes. This is after all an apocalyptic story, so be prepared for dramatic effect and brutality. These horsemen are ruthless for alot of the book, which I fully expected and loved every moment of it.

Enjoyable story
I enjoyed this story. If you’ve listened to the previous books you know the type of storyline (killing off whole cities regularly etc), but I thought it handled the concept of positive afterlife well, which helped justify the storyline more, and to see Thanatos more positively.

Still good but not as good as the other three books
As always the narration is excellent. The story is very good towards the second half but there is a lot of just talking and repeat situations between the two main characters. What makes the male lead decision isn’t really believable (if you get me) lol
Did really enjoy the epilogue.

Amazing
As much as I hate that it's over, this book was the best closing to an amazing series, it's bittersweet. Ever since Pestilence, the first book released, I've been waiting for the story of Death and the agonizing long wait was not in vain. This book was absolute heartache and so much love all in one! You can appreciate humanity in a whole different way. Laura outdid herself with the all the Horsemen but especially with this one. I wish I could give this more than five stars.
Narration was excellent! I enjoyed every single second of it. Great job!

Let Death Take Me…Seriously Though
The Four Horsemen has been right up there with the Bargainer Series for me. I have loved watching it evolve and to see how each horsemen has their distinct qualities. It’s been a journey and I procrastinated on finishing this one. It was one of those series where you don’t want to see the end.
Laura Thalassa is an amazing writer! I love her work and Death was no exception! Don’t miss out on a fairytale fantasy with great character development, plot, narrators, and a unique twist on the usual idea of the Four Horsemen! I always love having powerhouse women ready to fight for what they believe in! This is a must ready! Mahalo Laura! Keep those books coming in between living and loving life!

Amazing finish
Bringing it all to this book. The book was worth the wait. I saw this book came out and was stoked! I went back and listened to the other three and then this one. It did drag in some places but the storyline wasn’t lost or rushed. And I truly hate that when an author feels rushed to finish the book and cuts out parts. I loved the surprises and the extreme emotional roller coaster. From laughing to crying to cheering the heroine, I felt her pain, joy, hate, and love. I am now on the hunt for from this author!!

Favorite of the series
Hmmm I love Death. He was just so delicious! I kind of wanted to throttle the FMC sometimes because there were times where she really didn’t understand that he was trying to say EVERYBODY DIES. I kept thinking man does she not get that?? Does she expect everyone to never die and live forever? That was my only issue until the end. It was wrapped up nicely but Death by a long shot was my favorite Horseman! He was just so sexy and kinky and I just loved him. Hmmm just the perfect amount of darkness! I loved some of his saying throughout the book, even though the FMC didn’t get it, I sure did and it was beautiful.

Amazing Story, Male Narrator Ruined It
Got about 50 minutes into the audiobook and I can’t force myself to finish. LOVED the book and it is my favorite of the series, but I hate the male narration. You can tell he’s trying to make his voice so much deeper than it naturally is and it makes every sentence he reads end with an exaggerated breath. It’s so distracting. Would have been so much better to just stick with Susannah Jones reading as both Lazarus and Death.
I’m disappointed I wasted a credit, and I’m disappointed I can’t listen to this incredible book. If the sample has the male narration included maybe give that a listen first before spending a credit to see if you find it more tolerable than I could.
