Clare and Henry have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was 36. They were married when Clare was 23 and Henry was 31. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity from his life, past and future. His disappearances are spontaneous, his experiences unpredictable, alternately harrowing and amusing.

Another triumph
Nicholas Sparks is probably one of the greatest storytellers out there. As with his other books, Nicholas has once again written an unforgettably powerful and rich story. Dear John is not just a love story but a story which encompasses so much more. The characters are very likeable, the narration is superb and overall the story is just fantastic. Well done Mr Sparks 😊

Love the book hate the musical interludes
I watched the film first and loved it, so I thought I'd listen to the book. Loved the book but hated the musical interludes that seemed to crop up at the end of each chapter. It wasn't needed and just took away from the story. The guy reading it was fine.

Mediochre
Quite disappointed with this one. In all honesty, I wish I hadn't bothered. The story moves at a terribly slow pace. Then the author packs too much in to the final chapters in a desperate bid to wrap things up.

My heart aches...
If you could sum up Dear John in three words, what would they be?
Heartbreaking incredible love
What was one of the most memorable moments of Dear John?
There were so many from how they met, their time on the beach, John and his father...
What about Holter Graham’s performance did you like?
Once I got used to his voice and Holter narrating Savannah's voice, I adored the way he brought the characters to life and bring out their passion and heartbreak.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
...fate is cruel...
Any additional comments?
I loved this story and going to watch the film to see if it can keep up with this brilliant book. I found myself smiling, crying and aching listening to the story, pining for a John of my own and being heartbroken at the end. I couldn't stop listening to the story and looking forward to play the story again :)

Great listen and nicely read!
Would you listen to Dear John again? Why?
I wouldn't listen to it again, as the twist in the plot at the end would be lost second time around, but as a one off listen it's a great book.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Dear John?
When his father dies and he returns home to find his ex girlfriend nursing her husband, a mutual friend, with a severe cancer.
Did Holter Graham do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?
The voices used, and empathy for each individual within this book were played to listener in a clear and believe able way.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The end was not what I expected and a real delight.
Any additional comments?
Love to listen/read the books and then compare the pictures from my interpretation to those of the movie director.

Makes you think...
Where does Dear John rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It's one of the best. This is because it simply delivers on everything. A fantastic storry, so well told and the perfformance of the reader is fabulous in my view.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The main character as he is who carries the book so to speak and for his way of thinking.
What about Holter Graham’s performance did you like?
He is just fantastic in speaking Savannah's voice too even if he is male.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Well there are many, but I don't want to give away the story by stating. The whole book is very moving.
Any additional comments?
It's the kind of book that really makes you think, and for me it made me think back to a great love of my younger days - bitter sweet you might add.
