Story
The Faceless Ones have returned to our universe. The bad guys have won. With the end of everything just days away – and no longer able to rely on Valkyrie Cain – Skulduggery must make allies of enemies if he's going to stand any chance of saving what's left of the world. And just when things are looking their bleakest, they manage to get even worse, with Omen Darkly suddenly having to step up when his brother, the Chosen One, falls. There's a lot going on. Most of it is bad. Sorry about that.

Story
From the pulpy pages of Black Mask Magazine in the 1920s and '30s, through the film noir era of the 1940s, to today, noir fiction has lured many a reader and movie-goer away from the light and into the dark underbelly of society. Names such as Raymond Chandler, Dashiell Hammett, and James M. Cain; titles like The Big Sleep, The Maltese Falcon, The Postman Always Rings Twice...these have inhabited our collective consciousness for decades. Humanity, it seems, loves the dark. And within the dark, one figure stands out: that of the femme fatale.

Old Enemies awaken as Camp Half-Blood's new arrivals prepare for war. When Jason, Piper and Leo crash land at Camp Half-Blood, they have no idea what to expect. Summary
Skulduggery, Valkyrie and Omen return in the 14th and penultimate novel in the internationally best-selling Skulduggery Pleasant series - and their most epic test yet.
In a matter of days, the world will change.
Billions of lives will be wiped away in a final, desperate search for the Child of the Faceless Ones - she who is destined to bring about the return of humankind's ancient overlords.
To prevent this, Skulduggery Pleasant and Valkyrie Cain have one last - terrible - option: the assassination of Damocles Creed. With protests stirring in the magical city of Roarhaven, with riots and revolutions on the horizon, Valkyrie must decide who she wants to be: the hero who risks everything for a noble ideal, or the killer who sacrifices her own soul for the fate of humanity.
The decision must be made, and time is running out.

Just... Sad
Landy has become too arrogent with his work. The characters never learn the lesson and the same thing is now happening over, and over, and over, and over again.
This series was once incredible, but the past few books are so repetitive and constant. Plot armor can be only so convenient - I just couldn't finish this.
I am absolutely gutted that this once fantastic series has ended like this.

Jokes Banter Magic Adventure
I am absolutely loving this audiobook. Derek Landy has really brought back the comedy in this instalment. The funny banter between characters starts and when you think the jokes are done, they’re not! There’s more funny dialogue to come and this narrator is so good at delivering comedic timing. All the magic and fighting is so adventurous too. So clever the way the plot flows out of characters being diabolical.

Good story as ever.
Great banter, as always between Val and Skullduggery.
Good development of other characters.
But, yet again narrator is poor.People keep on saying this but the publishers won't listen.

Amazing!
Derek Landy hits it out of the park once again. After being somewhat disappointed with how many story lines were wrapped up so suddenly in the previous book, this was gets everything perfect! There are new and interesting developments and characters that are fascinating throughout! The narration is also hugely improved from the last book; it’s the same narrator but an impressively superior performance. Overall this is going to make every skulduggery fan very happy!

Great book. Know how to say the characters' names
Great story. Lots if twists and turns but after Dying of the Light, the narrator cannot get the doctor's name or the school's name correct. It's like grit in soup. A stone in a sandwich. Plain lazy and irritating. Listen to the previous stories - or get somebody from the publisher to do it.

Its was okay...
The book was very dragged out, really struggled to finish it. I enjoyed the ending but still nearly gave up a few times comming up to it.
The narrator isnt the best. Every character has an almost identical American accent (except skullduggery and val), I found this kinda irritating and is probably another reason I struggled to finish the book.
