Summary

*The breathtaking new novel from the bestselling author of Girl A*

A Times thriller of the year

‘I couldn’t put this down’ Stacey Halls

What really happened on Day One?

Everyone has their own version of what happened to the school that day:

The survivor, who escaped but is now trapped in a lie.

The newspapers, hellbent on turning a tragedy into a spectacle.

And the outsider, who claims it never really happened at all…

They all want the truth.

But who’s ready to face it?

As events spiral out of control and conspiracies ignite, the true story is revealed. Piece by shocking piece.

Really enjoyed this book, in which we meet and follow various characters following a school shooting. Abigail Dean has a fascinating look at the complex reactions and fallout of crime. I have enjoyed all three of her books.

Dipping in and out of characters over different timeframes became confusing and plot was slow.

Hmm bit hit and miss

Story was ok but sadly it is narrated with such woodenness especially the part of Trent. Very off putting and a real shame to what could otherwise in my humble opinion have been a better than ok listen. Sadly I don’t recommend this title. I went for it as it’s on Richard and Judy’s reading list and usually they get it pretty spot on. Not this time.

Terrible narration

Concept of book was ok, maybe it was the narration but struggled to connect with characters and stay focused on story. Didn’t finish which was disappointing as really enjoyed author’s previous book
