About this listen

 Wie "Ignaz Denner" und "Der Sandmann" gehört "Das Gelübde" zu den 1816/17 erschienenen "Nachtstücke". Wie viele Geschichten E.T.A. Hoffmanns hat auch diese Erzählung einen starken Gottesbezug. Die arme Protagonistin Hermenegilda, ihre Geschichte erinnert an Kleists "Die Marquise von O..", gibt sich in Gottes Gnade. Die auch formal meisterhaft erzählte Geschichte endet schließlich melancholisch und für alle handelnden Personen tragisch. Gelesen hat der Berliner Schauspieler, Regisseur und Autor Mirko Böttcher.
