About this listen

A Gunnar Brand Audiobook

Gunnar Brand and his people are survivors. Enduring the predations of madmen, monsters, and the gods themselves, the Brands have earned survival through grit and fortitude, each fell deed they perform brings the blessings of the Dark Gods.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

Explore the struggles of a Darkoath Chieftain desperately trying to balance the survival of his tribe, his own ambitions, and the will of the Dark Gods.

THE STORY

When calamity befalls their home, Gunnar Brand must step up to lead his tribe, embarking on a grim and perilous exodus through a Realm of Fire ravaged by war.

Haunted by an unfulfilled oath, his duties as chieftain soon conflict with his deep-rooted sense of destiny, and he discovers that the attentions of the Dark Gods are not so easily ignored.

Even now they whisper to him, for they know the road Gunnar Brand travels, and call his exodus by another name: the Path to Glory.

Written by Chris Thursten. Narrated by Jon Rand. Runtime 10 hours and 36 minutes, approx.

Great narration, but the story itself is quite fragmented and confused. Strange blend of Norse themes in a Warhammer world. I can see what they were trying to achieve but it's just a bit confused for me, and tries to be too many things. Worth a listen but not as good as some of the other WH titles!

great narration, odd story

I'm not overly familiar with New or Old Hammer so while I know what Skaven are I don't know what's the Gnaw(?). With that caveat, I founds this to be a fun tale of a manly antihero doing really manly things (like following through on the things he said he would do - phwoar!). It doesn't have anything meaningful to say about anything substantive but that's probably fine for a Warhammer book. I enjoyed my time with it and the narration definitely resonates with the tone of the story.

A fun romp

Awesome to hear about the motivations of the Darkoath, especially with the choices they face for survival in the Vermondoom. The Narrator should be THE narrator for AoS stories ❤️

Great story and awesome narrator!

the casting was a stroke of genius and made the whole book something else.
It was nice to see a perspective from some normalish people on the chaos side.

Pleasently surprised by this one. I started it after reading the Wiki on Gunner Brand and he is a highly engaging character. And the Darkoath are actually a fun concept for general chaos worshippers. Listening to them try to preserve their way of life in the aftermath of the vermindoom and current Skaven ascension was great while finishing up my Skaven Spearhead.

Reccomend for any fans of small to medium scale stories and general chaos worshippers

Turns out Darkoath are pretty cool
