Editor reviews

The third audiobook in the Unicorn Chronicles is easier to understand if one is familiar with the background of the earlier tales. Two plots are woven together. Cara Diana Hunter is on a quest for a critical story, and her father is on a journey in search of his wife. Transitions between the two tales are signaled by musical interludes that are helpful in keeping the listener grounded. The cast is strong, with a wide range of voices. At times, Cara and her little companion, the Squijim, are jarringly loud and shrill - as if to emphasize the tension of the plot. For the most part, however, the performers allow the story to create the mood and provide dimension to their characters.

Summary

In the third volume of the Unicorn Chronicles, Cara Diana Hunter journeys to the Valley of the Centaurs in quest of a mysterious lost story that could hold the key to the survival of the unicorns.

Fantastic Reading - and Listening

Would you consider the audio edition of Dark Whispers to be better than the print version?

Yes; I caught more than what I read (I tend to skip around). There were things that I'd forgotten from reading the book that surprised me in the audio recording.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dark Whispers?

Kara having to help end the King Centaur's life.
