About this listen

An everyday vacation quickly turns into a nightmare of epic proportions. Two sisters must struggle to find the strength within themselves to survive as well as to save one another. When the world of Fae emerges on a rocky shore far from the Emerald Isle, all hell breaks loose.

Two factions vie for the sister’s loyalties, one light, the other dark. Neither honest.

A series of events are set into motion that will not only test the bonds of sisterly love but will defy belief and reality. Then you have found yourself deep in...Dark Waters.

This is my second listen of this book (first time was a couple of years ago and I wasn’t bowled over - there again at that time I was inhaling books and not really ‘tasting ‘ the content) and this time I listened to absorb the detail and liked it a lot!

A different type of book than I’d got used to from SM, it feels almost sinister and dark - I couldn’t help feeling uneasy (imagine the theme tune to Jaws running through your head) and then it got exciting!

Really enjoyed the intricate story and now I’m eagerly off to listen to book two.

It’s a grower!

I loved this book, the history of the characters nicely laid out. The story/ plot is riviting. The narration was excellent but I do wish the speaker would pronounce 'narrated' properly. kinda tired of the 'Nas rr ted' (it grates) rather tha ' na ra ted'! The book is too short at 6 hours which I think is a money spin. I am sure the 2nd book and the 1st could be amalgated. Please fix because it doesn't please your loyal audience and, I am one.

feel cheated

As a rule I love Shannon Mayor’s books but I struggled with this one, finding it equal parts irritating and boring. It’s not helped by the fact that the narrator can’t do an Irish accent to save her life in a story where nearly all the characters are Irish. IAlso a note to the author adding ‘be’ to every sentence i.e “I ‘be’ telling ya”, doesn’t equal Irish!
Que eye rolling frustration 🙄
