Summary

Dante is Chapter Master of one of the noblest but most troubled Chapters of Space Marines in the Imperium: the Blood Angels. From the time of his birth in the rad-scarred wastes of Baal Secundus, he was destined for glory and strife.

From his apotheosis to Scout, to the hive cities of Armageddon and the alien menace of the Cryptus system, Dante has waged war against all the enemies of the Imperium. He has witnessed the divine, and struggled against the darkness within all sons of Sanguinius. Longer lived than any other Chapter Master, this is his chronicle, his great and storied legend.

Enjoyable drama.

A very enjoyable listen - well written and well read. I was disappointed when it ended.

A genuine hero in a universe of grim.

Dante is such an endearing character despite the hellish universe he exists in. The book also delves into the Blood Angels lore and the path to becoming a space marine more comprehensively than most other books. Which is the real meat of it. The change from when Dante is a child in awe of the godly Asterties to his eventual leadership of them is compelling and weirdly... warm and heartfelt. He never loses himself. He just does the best he can in the situation hes in. It honestly is a great listen. And as always, Gareth Armstrong IS the Blood Angels. I find his hopeful yet sorrowful tones to be a perfect match for the troubled sons of Sanguinius.

Excellent

Finally a blood angels book which does the chapter credit, freed of the shackles of Jim swallow the blood angels shine as they are supposed to. A fascinating look at the mentality of angels where we get to see behind the death mask and glimpse the nobility Beneath. Cannot praise this book enough

Incredible

Guy haleys truly has a gift for writing blood angels stories. For any brother seeking to know why Dante is such an important character within the 40k universe, I cannot recommend this and devastation of baal

Fantastic

Great story covering various points in Dante's life. I think narrators are always at a disadvantage when voicing Astartes and xenos without some form of post modulation. However this is narrated admirably.

Well, it's Dante.

No need for words really, it's Dante's origin and that alone makes it worth it but damn it's indeed a fine book too.

Dante is a badass

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would only recommend this audio book to a friend who is a blood angels fan, i feel like they wouldn't appreciate it if they didn't know some of the ranks, titles and rituals of the blood angels.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dante?

During one scene the angels where in the presence of a chapter master they did not like,
Dante spoke to the chapter master as if he was one of his own, showcasing his nobility

Which scene was your favorite?

Early on in the book Dante spoke with Mephiston and the sanguinary guard stood around them in a circle, has to be the best scene in the book

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I didn't intend to listen to it all at once but as the story progressed it kept me listening for hours,

Any additional comments?

10/10 Book, Perfect for any fan of the blood angels or anyone wanting to learn more about our beloved chapter master, The Emperor Protects.

Dante

I'm a simple man, I see Warhammer I buy. But this is a damned good book. I enjoyed listening to it and learning about the recruiting process that would be Space Marines are subjected to. The audio recording is high quality and the story is simple yet full of detail. This book acheived what every good Warhammer book has achieved, it made the Blood Angels and Dante in particular feel human. Which is a nice change of pace for Warhammer. I highly recommend this book to die hard fans and newcomers alike.

Dante is the only good guy in 40k

Dante is the greatest hero in 40k. He cares so much about others and is guided by that. There were several moments where I actually teared up. This book is his orgin story and includes the insights of what an astarte recruit goes through.

Great Read!!

Guy Haley is a great writer and Gareth Armstrong the best narrator. Guy puts so much depth and detail into writing. Gareth's narration is superb, i love every novel he reads.
