I had a plan to escape the friend zone. Step one: sneak into Reed’s room. Step two: sleep with him. But when the lights turned on, it wasn’t familiar blue eyes I saw. These were dark, angry, and full of demons. And they belonged to Reed’s much-older brother. Four years later, Nash Prescott is no longer the help’s angry son. I’m no longer the town’s prized princess. At 22, I’m broke, in need of a job. At 32, he’s a billionaire, in need of revenge.

I don’t want him. I can’t do this. That’s what my ex said after our son was born, leaving me a single dad. These days, my world consists of two things: Noah and my bar. Until her - the woman I want - but can never have. My ex’s sister wasn’t supposed to be stirred into the mix. Even though I try to push her away, my son falls in love with her. As much as I want to keep my distance, I can’t break his heart. Lines become blurred, and fighting our attraction becomes nearly impossible. My love story all started with a letter. Only it wasn’t from the man I’d eventually fall in love with. It was from his daughter. A sweet little girl named Birdie Maxwell who’d written to the magazine that I worked for. You see, once a year my employer fulfilled a few wishes for readers. Only that column didn’t start up again for months. So I fulfilled some of her wishes myself. It was harmless…so I thought. Until one day I took things too far. While anonymously granting yet another of Birdie’s wishes, I got a look at her father.

Summary
His heart beats for the music. She's his favorite song. Lyric Cassidy knows a thing or two about bad boy rock stars with raspy vocals. In fact, her heart was just played by one. I LOVED.. LOVED.. LOVED EVERY SINGLE SECOND
Wow.. this is a way above average rocker romance.. it’s a slow burn drenched in sweet delicious feels.. ones that make you swoon and sigh as two damaged hearts find their way to each other. Nobody knows that secretatively Lyric writes songs.. and she’s been doing it for years. She’s estranged from her absentee famous parents in the music world. She’s just got out of a two year relationship with a cheating ex boyfriend who is a rockstar, she’s hiding something and she’s the new Tour Manager with a band whose bad boy lead singer Wolf is a droolworthy sexy tempting rock star. Wolf’s a one and done kinda guy never asking or wanting more than casual stepping stones.. but the more he gets to know his impressive new Tour Manager, the more he wants her.. trouble is Lyric has walls around her heart.. and they’re nearly as thick as Wolf’s.
So there’s a wonderful pace to this dual POV love story that takes its time to fully unfurl.. deliciously teasing, tempting and revealing its magical wares in well-crafted chapters. There’s layers to the characters, layers to the compelling story and layers of everything I love in a rocker romance. There’s a push/pull relationship that builds and builds in strength and oozes with sexual tension.. until passion, sex, touching words and romance take over. However, as we all know, if it’s a Duet then there’s bound to be some kind of drama that’ll close book 1.. but I so didn’t want it to happen to Lyric and Wolf who’d both finally overcome their emotional hurdles and let each other in. Neither one of them did anything wrong.. but that didn’t stop the sh:t from hitting the fan.. and the fallout looks bleak.
Worth a credit? Oh boy YES YES YES. It’s after 3.00 am right now and I’m oh so so very tempted to dive straight into book two because this Duet is just that compelling with its perfect storyline and perfect narration.. especially Lynn Barrington’s awesome voice as Wolf. I fought hard with myself to pace and savor this tempting morsel slowly instead of feasting and devouring it in one sitting.. but my inner groupie won out as she mentally screamed “I love you Wolf” and sinfully threw her panties in the air.

Love and Music
Wow! This one was a winner. I thought the narration was great. Both of the narrators were amazing and I loved listening to them. I could see myself listening to this again because the story was really good and the narration was perfection. Dangerous Hearts was really good. Wolf was such a great hero and I loved how he got under Lyric's skin. The music side of the story was fun and I liked all the characters. Lyric was good too. She had been hurt and is really defensive, but I like how Wolf tries to break down all her barriers. Can't wait to listen to the next book.

Pretty good.
I liked the story well enough. I wasn’t attached to the characters like I usually am with K.K. Allen’s books. The book wasn’t bad, just not what I really enjoy. Nothing against the author, just wasn’t for me. Not sure I’ll read the second one. It would fix the cliffhanger issue, but not sure I care enough. Again, nothing against K.K., just not for me.

Amazing narrators, formulaic story
This is a predictable rock star/ relationship scarred girl story. He is a manwhore, she doesn't want to like anyone cos she is hurting. They tour on bus together and start groping and sex and fall in love, all within 10 minutes. Alleluia, it's a miracle, he has eyes and heart only for her despite not knowing her full name yet, while she is jealous AF of all the babes hanging off his rockstar abs and ass, which provides opportunities to fight and/or silent treatment. Just insert few quirks here and there (in this one the lady conveniently writes lyrics) and the end. You're welcome. The narrators are great, I have to say. I wish more books are by them.

What???
Didn’t realize this was a cliffhanger and with the way it went at the end, I will not be listening to the second one. Book was good until the STUPID drama at the end. Ugh. Usually, even if the book was just ok, a good ending can elevate it into ending positively in my mind. This was the opposite. Ugh.

Rockstar stereotypes
It’s not a rockstar romance, yet her parents were rockstars. This is about the daughter of a rockstar. Although, her life revolved around music, she stayed out of the spotlight. She preferred to be on the road it was comforting to her. Since she was fifteen she worked for an artist management company working her way up as a road manager. Her new position was for Wolf Chapman the lead singer and ultimate bad boy. Having been burned by a rockstar before she pegged Wolf as the enemy. To her all rockstars were the same. However, she was not completely turned off by his great body. There was sexual tension between them. But, he had to work his magic to disprove her preconceived notions about him. Overall: I find it odd and unusual for a male character to describe each one of his band mates so intimately and detailed. Guys aren’t this observant to the same details that girls are and this definitely screams a woman wrote this male character. This is not the voice or mindset of a guy. Guys don’t talk or speak this way. Since her name was Lyric and she wrote songs I thought perhaps more time would’ve been spend bonding of the melody and lyrics of writing new songs. I was actually surprised by my interest in this rockstar book. Only one book has held my interest in the rockstar genre, so my standards are set pretty high. This was an decently average story about disproving the bad stereotypes about rockstars. Narrators: Lynn Barrington was the voice of Lyric. I quite enjoyed her performance. She rocked the shite out of her character. Great tone and sound quality. She enhanced my listening experience. John Masterson was the voice of Wolf. He was spot on in his performance. I would definitely listen to another of his performance. Together these narrators brought these charact

❤️❤️❤️
I’d already read the novel, so I knew I loved it here’s my review for the actual novel: As with all of KK Allen's work, Dangerous Hearts is pure poetry. It's much steamier than her other works (more so than I normally read) but the story line itself is true to her style. At the heart of the story is people. Broken people who somehow find a way to let the right person in. This story deals with celebrity, and the cost it has in people's lives. Our culture is obsessed with them and we place them on pedestals, forgetting that they are human. They have their public faces, but we don't really know the 'real' them like we think. This book is a glimpse behind the curtain. We see how families are effected by their fame, specifically their children. Wolf has chosen the life of celebrity he's a man with an earned reputation. Lyric has chosen to hide her talents, to be a background support, until these unique individuals meet each other. They have different outlooks on life and what they want from it, which leaves us with a cliffhanger of an ending. Lyric and Wolf were made for each other. But will they/won't they continue their lives at each other's sides? The next book is due out this summer, and I can't wait to find out! Just some parting thoughts: Crowley... I don't like him, and I hope to see his comeuppance. I want to see more of the band! And I want to see more of Lyric's parents. Come on Destined Hearts, I wanna know more! And now for my review of the audio performance. They read smoothly and their voices complimented each other. They aren’t the voices I ‘heard’ in my head while reading, but that didn’t detract from my enjoyment in the least. The only thing that stuck out to me was that the reader for Wolf’s chapters sounded a lot like the guy who narrates the ‘sad cat diaries’ on YouTube. It’s his voice inflection and timber I think. Again, this isn’t a bad thing at all, it just stuck in my mind! Onto listening to Destined Hearts!
