Summary

Fear Another Day, the second book:

Nadia, alone and frightened, runs not only from the infected but also the guilt that hounds her footsteps. Within her veins her she carries a secret, one that could change the course of humanity. Haunted by the death of his beloved, Logan wanders the highways in search of redemption. He stumbles upon Nadia, and in saving her, he finds a measure of peace.

Back home, Max is doing his best to lead the camp into a future worth living. When a new enemy surfaces, he faces a danger unlike any he's fought before. With their survival at stake, he prepares for battle, one that could cost them everything.

As the sun sets against the backdrop of the African veldt, shining on the last remnants of humanity. A few hold on to their values while others prey on the weak, replacing the undead as the new apex predator in the food chain.

Live Another Day, the third book:

Max prepares to battle Ke Tau, a brutal killer who hungers for ultimate power. His efforts are hampered by dwindling supplies and the ever-present threat of the undead. With morale at an all-time low, the camp's inhabitants will have to stand together and face their fears if they wish to survive.

Logan and Nadia team up with Martin, an old friend of Max's. Now the leader of a burgeoning town, Martin is eager to see his friend once more and establish an alliance. They set off across the breadth of South Africa, but will they arrive in time to help? Or will everything they hope for be gone already?

As night falls across the African veldt, darkness threatens those who struggle to survive within its cold embrace. With the dawn of a new era, humanity's last hope rests in the hands of ordinary men and women called to do extraordinary things.

All it takes is one mistake....

Great story, but lacks a main character!

I really enjoyed each of the Dangerous Days books, and in the first I felt like Morgan was the main character, obviously not as it turns out, and even though the story was really good throughout books 1-3, I struggled to cling to any one character as a "main". Maybe that's how they're supposed to read, and if so mission accomplished, but I just rather a story that has a focus character.
That said, I loved the stories of each character, and nice attention was paid to each in their chapters.
Give this series a go, I'll keep reading if more are released in the future.

Zombie tale of hope, brilliantly narrated

Unlike some apocalypse books, this has a message of hope, with a group of likeable characters, having different personalities, working together against overwhelming odds to survive, help one another and even flourish. There are some sickening events, but thankfully these are few, not described in detail, and relevant to the plot rather than purely intended to shock or titulate, as I have seen in books by other authors.

The narration is a joy to listen to. The gruff Afrikaaners, the kindly matriarchal figures and even a female Scandinavian sniper all spring to life thanks to the adept voice performance. But what I enjoyed most were the oft-irritable exchanges between Nadia, the rebellious adolescent girl, and Logan, the macho loner, who slowly becomes her guardian, which often had me chucking or even laughing.

I would recommend this book to any fan of the zombie genre who seeks action, horror, and believable and 3-dimensional characters whom the listener can truly understand and cheer for.
