About this listen

What’s scarier than hunting demons?

Being bonded to one of them.

Ever since I got involved with the demons, my life has fallen apart.

Now, I’m persona non grata with the mage council. And because of me, my sister is in danger. If that wasn’t bad enough, I’m suddenly responsible for protecting two gnome kids.

But it gets worse. I’m learning that everything I thought I knew about myself was a lie. And the underhanded demon who bonded with me? Well, he’s convinced he can keep me.

When ancient fae artifacts start going missing, I have to use every trick up my sleeve to locate them. Someone wants to watch the world burn, and if I don’t stop them, every paranormal alive is a target.

Armed with a power I don’t understand, and with a demon I don’t trust by my side, it’s up to me to dodge the people who want me dead and protect my city.

Before Samael loses patience with whoever is hunting me and burns Durham down himself.

I liked the first in the series so I got no. 2 also. Problem is a bit that the female lead is seriously too stupid at times and it is getting worse now that she is the typical urban fantasy 'unicorn'. She did some bad things to the demon and still thinks she is in right to be seriously nasty no matter how much he helps her. Then again you could say that no man worth having would put up with that. But, overlooking that undeserved self-righteousness of FL, the story line is good and the setting better. Not super original, but well written. I just lack in this genre female leads who can control themselves and THINK and not behave like brats who believe lacking a control is something worth admiration. Well, unless it is comedic. I do not think this is supposed to be? But just imagine a combination of a bad ass heroine who has a brain of Miss Marple. Asking too much, huh? Well, I think I will not get the next ones even though I think it deserved 4 stars overall.

Lead a bit stupid, but otherwise great story

I love the narrator the most, smooth sailing through out the story, very easy to follow, and the story itself is consistently intriguing..

Delicious

Dannika, the main FL is so very annoying for most of this book that I almost stopped this series. Twice now she plans to kill/let die the man she obviously loves. Stupidity doesn’t suit a strong female. Sigh. I’ll stick with it and hope for the best.

Sometimes I wish I could slap uppity MFC

I didn't enjoy this book as much as the last one. I liked the chemistry in the 1st book and although there was a bit of spice in this it felt odd against the rest of the dialogue between Samiel and Danika.
The ending wasn't what I was expecting and again miscommunication ruined everything.
