Summary

From New York Times and USA Today best-selling author J. Kenner comes a new story in her Stark series…

I am Damien Stark. From the outside, I have a perfect life. A billionaire with a beautiful family. But if you could see inside my head, you’d know I’m as f--ked up as a person can be. Now more than ever.

I’m driven, relentless, and successful, but all of that means nothing without my wife and daughters. They’re my entire world, and I failed them. Now I can barely look at them without drowning in an abyss of self-recrimination.

Only one thing keeps me sane - losing myself in my wife’s silken caresses where I can pour all my pain into the one thing I know I can give her. Pleasure.

But the threats against my family are real, and I won’t let anything happen to them ever again. I’ll do whatever it takes to keep them safe - pay any price, embrace any darkness. They are mine.

I am Damien Stark. Do you want to see inside my head? Careful what you wish for.

SADLY DISAPPOINTED

After four books and three novellas I was pretty much done with Damien and Nikki’s world.. however, when this book came up and I saw it was narrated by Jason Clarke, I couldn’t resist once again delving into the lives of my favorite couple. Plus it’s an Audible Escape book so it’s pretty much free.. win win all around I thought. Unfortunately though, I was pretty bored most of the way through.. endless declarations of love and devotion, Damien’s remorse and meltdown over his daughter’s kidnapping in a previous book, lots and lots of sex, then drama right at the end. I kept on listening because hello people.. Jason Clarke (sigh), but, if it wasn’t for his swoon-worthy sexy voice and his awesome skill as a narrator, I doubt I would’ve got to the end. Worth a credit? Thankfully it was free. I, like most of you, absolutely loved, loved, loved the Stark trilogy but I wonder just how many spin offs and novellas can J. Kenner get from one devoted married couple? But this is just my opinion.. the devoted Stark followers will, no doubt, love it.

Daniel's POV

A real pleasure to hear Jason Clarke read Damien's side of the Stark story. That alone earns five stars. Infact, I wish Mr. Clark had been reading in ALL the past books as I would have enjoyed them so much more as opposed to the less than stellar male-like voice coming from the female narrator. The plot picks up after the return of the Stark's youngest daughter - everyone focusing on solving the big question - "Who was the mastermind of the kidnapping?" All the princip!e supporting characters were here with a little twist at the end as to the person or persons responsible.

Damien

I had to listen to this story because of Mr. Jason Clarke. His voice is sensual and alluring, I absolutely love hearing him; And the lets not forget the fact that this is finally Damien’s POV. That being said, this story felt like more drama, sex, and a lot more of Damien’s hateful attitude. I have adored Damien and Nikki, I feel that their story is being dragged out, they need a HEA and then leave it at that.

💕💕Just Love Niki and Damien💕💕

I love this series and this book, told from Damien’s POV is every bit as good as the others in this series. If you like a bit of thrill and mystery with a lot of sexy times, you’ll love this continuation of Niki and Damien’s story. Jason Clarke was excellent as the voice of Damien!

Jason Clarke is EVERYTHING LOL

I was addicted to the Damien and Nikki love story, and I could NOT wait for Damien's book. I was even more ecstatic to realize it was read by Jason Clarke. A great ending to a great series!

good end to the series

it was preditable but a good ending with a little cliffhanger. not nearly enough as other books I've loved. i like to be on the edge of my toes worried and this series got watered down by the constant retells and inoguous details of colors of furniture. we all know who is behind everything from the first page and because we do know and why ... it just doesnt make it an edge of your seat read. i dont want the lecture of why they need each other over and over either.
