The day my path crossed with Simon Fox I thought I’d already lost everything, but then he almost ran me off the road with his flash car and belittling jibes. The men in my life had undermined me for too long. Enough was enough. Fuelled by alcohol and the desire to get even, I decided a spot of petty vandalism would make me feel a whole lot better. Wrong. Very wrong. I hadn’t realised that Simon Fox was not a man to be messed with.

Summary
Twin sisters separated by the past are reunited by unspeakable crimes in New York Times bestselling author Mary Burton’s throat-clutching novel of suspense....
Trauma victims are not new to medical examiner Faith McIntyre, but this one is different. The unconscious woman clinging to life after a hit and run is FBI agent Macy Crow. What the woman from Quantico was doing in a dark alley after midnight is just one mystery. The other is more unsettling: Macy is Faith’s mirror image - the twin sister she never knew she had.
Faith knew that she was adopted, but now she’s finding that her childhood concealed other secrets. Following the trail of clues Macy left behind, Faith and Texas Ranger Mitchell Hayden make a shocking discovery on an isolated country ranch - a burial ground for three women who disappeared thirty years before.
They weren’t the only victims in a killer’s twisted plot. And they won’t be the last.
As the missing pieces of Faith’s and Macy’s dark lives snap into place, Faith is becoming more terrified by what she sees - and by what she must do to save her sister and herself from the past.

Really enjoyed this.
I think primarily the quality of the narrator is paramount when it comes to audio books. This is really well read. The characters are strong and well developed. The story draws you in it does take a few chapters to get you hooked. But once up and running the story develops well and keeps you engaged.

Twisted Fast Fun & Free (to borrow)...
CUT AND RUN is an excellent mystery. The publisher's summary gives a very good overview so I don't want to give away too much more.
Burton does a great job with the telling of this book in that she tells it from different points of view and switches between past and present. She does this with ease and without confusion.
The book is fast paced with many twists along the way. As the plot becomes clear the antagonist is not completely revealed until almost the end and boy was that a shock.
Burton is known for romantic suspense and I was grateful that in this book she kept the romance part to s minimum since I do not like romance books.

Brittany Pressley does a very good job narrating.

Finally a book I loved
I’ve been in such a slump for months and nothing is holding my attention. Until this book. The only thing I can complain about is that it’s over :( from start to finish I was engrossed in the story! I love that there was always something new adding to the mystery, it kept me captivated and wanting to keep listening to see what would happen next. A true great mystery novel is when you can’t predict the villain. I can usually say “it was him” within the first 1/4 of the book but I could never figure it out with this one. A true gem! It flowed nicely, the narrator was great, and it was just an all around great listen.

Good book. Entertaining.
This was an entertaining book. Kept my attention and had a few twists and turns. I liked Macy but wanted more of her in the book. That was a missed opportunity.
The story line and plot was good. There was a serious brutal bad guy for sure. He liked inflicting pain, however, a couple of people deserved it. Yep they did. Kidnapping pregnant women and stealing their babies?? Yep you deserve punishment.
I do like Mary Burton books. They are fast paced and the stories flow well and are easy to follow along.
As for the narration it was good. I like Brittany Pressley, she does a good job on the male voices and gives everyone their own distinct voice. She has a nice reading voice too.

Suspenseful Crime Thriller Romance Medical
I won’t bore you by retelling details already given in the initial book review, but I will say that this book was quite enjoyable to listen to. Ms. Pressley did a great job narrating, using her voice like a fine instrument, flowing from one character to the next while giving each one distinctive inflections.
Ms. Burton’s story line flowed seamlessly from one perspective to the other, backwards and forwards in time, which contributed significantly to the plot.
While there is romance and a few very steamy scenes, they do not detract from the overall suspense. I personally no longer read romances and prefer books like these to have no steamy scenes; however, it was easy to fast forward through them.
Finally, I love books with law enforcement and medical characters and this one had both.
I highly recommend this novel. #thriller #medical #Texas #crime #murder #suspenseful #GreatNarration #romance #steamy #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Struggled to like the characters...
I liked this book as I was listening. Never did love it. I couldn't get into the characters enough, but liked it enough to keep going. Although, I found myself hoping it would hurry and end. When there was 3 hours left, the f-bomb started showing up. This annoyed me because I can usually tell in the beginning if I won't like a book due to language. But this was farily clean clear up to 3 hours to the finish. Not sure I'll try this author again due to this. I also haven't decided to if I'll finish the book or not. But probably not. The narrator was excellent. I've heard her many times and love her. That's why I gave this book a chance
