Summary

Ten stories. Ten roads. And after traveling them, you may never look at a highway the same way again.

Some roads take you home. Others hide stories that were never meant to be discovered.

A wrong turn. A passenger who knows too much. A bridge with a decades-old secret. A route that seems impossible to escape. In Cursed Roads, the ordinary can become inexplicable with the next turn.

This collection brings together ten supernatural tales of mystery, suspense, and unexpected destinies, following ordinary people who find themselves facing extraordinary situations. Some are searching for answers. Others are trying to correct mistakes from the past. Some will discover too late that certain roads have rules of their own.

But behind every mystery is a human story.

Guilt, friendship, loss, second chances, and unfinished business follow characters who must confront not only what lurks along the road, but also what they carry within themselves.

You'll encounter a high school reunion where nothing is what it seems, a legendary trucker whose final route may never have ended, a traveler trapped in a moment that keeps repeating, a bridge hiding a secret, a passenger who knows things no stranger should know, and other journeys where reaching the destination may only be the beginning.

Each story presents a different mystery, with new characters and twists of its own. Some will unsettle you. Others will surprise you. And some will leave you with a question long after the story ends.

Perfect for listeners who enjoy supernatural suspense, paranormal mysteries, and anthologies with unexpected twists, in the spirit of The Twilight Zone, where the strange becomes a way to explore choices, consequences, and human nature.

Because on these roads, getting lost may be the least of your worries.

The real question is what you'll find before you reach your destination.

The bridge story has been on my mind since I finished it. I liked the idea that a place people pass without thinking could be holding onto a history no one has managed to face. The mystery unfolds at a steady pace, and the emotional weight sneaks up on you rather than arriving with a big announcement. That’s what I enjoyed about the collection as a whole. Its strange turns feel tied to the characters’ lives, not dropped in just to make things spooky. A couple of stories landed more strongly for me than others, but the best ones left me turning over their endings after I’d moved on.

I listened to this in short stretches, and the anthology format made it easy to return without having to reconstruct a complicated plot. Each tale gives you a fresh situation and a clear thread to follow, whether it’s a strange encounter or a secret tied to a familiar place.

The stories vary in mood, so I didn’t feel like I was hearing the same setup ten times. I could pause after one and come back later without losing my place, but the details and questions were still interesting enough to pull me into the next one. A few endings landed more strongly for me than others, though the collection kept its appeal throughout.

I enjoy supernatural stories, especially when there’s more going on than just trying to scare me. These kept my attention because the characters actually had decisions to make, and I liked seeing how those choices came back to affect them. Having ten separate stories also made this easy to listen to in shorter stretches. A few were genuinely unsettling without relying on excessive gore. I never knew exactly where the next story was headed, which kept me listening.

The Salvage Auction drew me in for a personal reason because I have known someone who struggled with alcohol, and that made the tragedy behind the story hit differently. What made it unsettling was how believable everything seemed as it unfolded. Even some of the awkward conversations felt like exchanges you could imagine happening in real life, which made the supernatural side of the story creepier when it began taking over. The Reunion worked in a completely different way, slowly revealing information that changes how you view the characters and what you thought was happening. The Wrong Exit probably gave me the most to reflect on afterward. It explores how easy it is to believe that more money, a different career, or another version of our life would finally make us satisfied, while overlooking the value of what is already in front of us. That mixture of believable characters, supernatural twists, and stories that make you examine real-life choices is what made Cursed Roads memorable for me.

Cursed Roads worked really well for me because the stories explore very different situations while still fitting naturally into the darker anthology style. The Reunion, The Phantom Trucker, and Wrong Exit were probably my favorites. Each one touches on a different aspect of life that we tend to take for granted until circumstances force us to look at it differently. The Loop and The Warning were the most tragic for me, especially because you can see how choices, emotions, and consequences gradually bring the characters to where they end up. The supernatural elements make the stories entertaining, but the reflections are what give the collection more substance. Several of them left me thinking about the story well after it ended and considering how easily some of the same lessons can apply to everyday life. A dark anthology that actually gives you something to digest afterward.
