About this listen

Carrington’s Department Store – where life is sweeter…

‘Defies the chick lit cliché’ Heat magazine

'Deliciously delightful from start to finish, sprinkled with magic and full of heart' Miranda Dickinson

Georgie Hart loves her job – running the luxury handbag concession at Carrington's Department store in the pretty seaside town of Mulberry Bay, and treating herself (once too often!) to a red velvet cupcake with buttercream icing in Carrington's café.

But Georgie is thrown into disarray when Carrington's is plunged into a recession-busting makeover, cueing the arrival of femme fatale Maxine, who wields the axe in her immaculately-manicured hands.

It spells a recipe for disaster for Georgie and soon she is fighting not only for her job, but also for the attentions of her gorgeous boss, James. And when hot newcomer Tom arrives, who may or may not be the best thing since sliced bread, Georgie must decide where her loyalties really lie…

Can't wait to listen/read the rest of her books. I loved The Great Christmas Knit Off and I enjoyed reading A Cosy Christmas at Bridget's Bicycle Bakery at Christmas. Now I have started from the first book (this one) I am itching to know more about the characters and Carrington's department store, which reminds me so much of a department store that I used to work in, very nostalgic! Alex Brown's books are so well written that the characters come to life. You want to be friends with the characters and visit the places in the books. The places feel so real. I recommend any of her books, even the ones I haven't read/listened to yet, as I am that confident that they will all be of a fantastic quality. Anyway, on to the next book 😆👍❤️

I loved "Secret of the orchard cottage" so wanted to try more by the author but this book is really not for me. Didn't like characters or the story.
