Summary

An Agatha Christie thriller, described by her as “one of my best.”

The Leonides were one big happy family living in a sprawling, ramshackle mansion. That was until the head of the household, Aristide, was murdered with a fatal barbiturate injection.

Suspicion naturally falls on the old man’s young widow, fifty years his junior. But the murderer has reckoned without the tenacity of Charles Hayward, fiance of the late millionare’s granddaughter…

Superb Agatha Christie, wonderful Hugh Fraser

Crooked House is beautifully, cleverly, excitingly written. The character gallery comprising of members of an old family, and men connected to police force, are all so vividly and insightfully depicted. The closer the book gets to its end, the more gloomy it gets. Impossible to guess who the culprit(s) is/are. Captain Hastings a.k.a. Hugh Fraser's narrating is top class. Thank you Audible!

Good fun

Nicely read, and entertaining bit of fun. Even though I’d guessed the killer! Good fun!

A cracking story

Once again Agatha Christie tells a cracking good tale with plenty of twists and turns. Hugh Fraser is so good as a narrator that one soon forgets there is only one person speaking and imagine a whole cast of characters. I heartily recommend this story, especially if on a long train journey.

Excellent Story

One of the best Agatha Christie books I have listened to. It certainly kept me enthralled right to the very end. Not to be missed for Agatha Christie fans.

Crooked Story

Revisited this story from years back but enjoyed it although as a bit of nostalgia. The main story is different from the usual Agatha Christie Fayre as there is a lot of psychology and not a lot of action. Worth a read though.

One of Agatha Christie's best.

Brilliant narration from Hugh Fraser. Manages to transport you back in time to a bygone era. Loved the whole audio book, just starting the next one!
