Summary
History isn't always what it seems....
Twelve months after his change, Alec MacAidan is still getting used to his many vampire talents. While most vampires would give anything to have more than one supernatural power, Alec craves nothing more than peace and time alone with Cronin. But when Alec meets entities from outside this realm, he's left powerless in their presence.
Zoan are half-lycan, half-dragon creatures that have slipped through time and reality, seemingly undetected by man and vampire. Or have they? They bear an uncanny resemblance to gargoyles, leaving Alec's view on all things weird to get a whole lot weirder.
This new quest leads Alec, Cronin, and their band of friends to Paris, Rome, and Moscow, where they learn that gargoyles aren't simply statues on walls. In the underground pits beneath churches all over the world, Alec discovers the Key's true destiny. Facing the Zoan might take every talent he has. And he may need help from the dead to get them all out alive.

Better than I was expecting
Not my kind of thing but I was drawn in and found I cared about the characters and what became of them all. A well-constructed series, and exceptionally well narrated - really convincingly done, even if the tales not. Probably better listened to than read, as the narration was so compelling- plus they were all free - thank heavens….

An OK gay fantasy romp
If you can get over the dreadful accents, it's quite a fun story. I've listened to all of the Cronins Key and the early ones are better in my opinion

excellent all round
I listened to all 3 books in the series and have loved them all. I think the story lines could have been longer and more developed but I really enjoyed the series. would like more and to see the friendships develop. had me laugh out loud and on the edge of my seat.

Poorly written
The author clearly never heard the golden rule of writing "show, don't tell". I've created a drinking game for when they use the word "shock" or the phrase "and yet". I can't tell if it's slightly better written than the first two previous books or if I've gotten used to it enough to stop cringing.
The saving grace is the narrator who is adequate at different accents. He even uses two separate English accents (and there are many) which is impressive.
The story itself was good, definitely an interesting play on ancient history, theories about ancient structured and supernatural creature. It has so much potential.

Brilliant narration and excellent story
I have to congratulate the narrator, Joel Leslie. The number of perfect accents, tones, pronunciation, male, female and emotive wording blew me away. Thank you! The story was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It kept my attention, referred to actual history and locations and was totally believable. Love the characters and characterisation. Just fab!
