'Emily Oster is the non-judgemental girlfriend holding our hand and guiding us through pregnancy and motherhood. She has done the work to get us the hard facts in a soft, understandable way' Amy Schumer

Parenting is full of decisions, nearly all of which can be agonized over. There is an abundance of often- onflicting advice hurled at you from doctors, family, friends, and strangers on the internet. But the benefits of these choices can be overstated, and the trade-offs can be profound. How do you make your own best decision?

Armed with the data, Oster finds that the conventional wisdom doesn't always hold up. She debunks myths and offers non-judgemental ways to consider our options in light of the facts. Cribsheet is a thinking parent's guide that empowers us to make better, less fraught decisions - and stay sane in the years before preschool.©2019 Emily Oster

Good summary of the current studies and data available! I really appreciate in particular her critical reflections about the existing studies and her emphasis of confounding facors (other factors that may play a larger role). Nonetheless, a lot of the studies focus on outcome measures that are a bit questionable (e.g. test scores and IQ), so take the results with a grain of salt. BUT I think Emily's synopsis is usually really spot on. So, all in all a great read for the modern parent looking for a good updated overview of current knowledge, what we can learn from it and also what we cannot. Also great audiobook reading voice!! Very pleasant.

Good modern summary!

A pretty good place to start when you’re looking for some advice on decisions for your family and possibly more importantly for reminding yourself that doing what works for you and your baby is likely what’s best most of the time. We’re on baby 2 and it would’ve helped to read it before baby 1.

Worth a read for new and old parents

A truly honest and insightful guide to more relaxed parenting. I enjoyed every minute and couldn’t wait to listen. I found it so relatable to my life with 2 kids. Highly recommend for expecting parents and parents of young children. I’m only sorry I didn’t hear about this book 3 years ago.
