About this listen

A bizarre series of incidents take place on a usually tranquil lake. Boats are found ravaged, a body torn in two, other people are missing and an injured victim cries of a monster. Chief of Police Morgan Sydney must face the reality that a huge monster is lurking in the lake. With bulletproof scales, territorial aggression, and an insatiable appetite, the beast causes mayhem in the peaceful town. To destroy the creature, Sydney must form an alliance with the sheriff, a local lodge employee, his ex-wife, and an eccentric biologist who has a theory on what the creature is and its origins.

This book isn’t going to win any award for for literary excellence, narration or originality. In fact it borrows heavily from other horror stories like Jaws, Piranha and many others and is one 8 hour long cliche. The fact the creature protagonist is a giant bass is also a bit challenging. Added to that, the fact the story alludes to other large prehistoric creatures living in the underground lake, but only the “Carno-bass” came though is never answered. All that said, it is very entertaining, gory and hits the mark. The end of the book indicated a sequel in the offing, which I would definitely enjoy.

The book version of a b grade aquatic horror

Now to be fair I like the author however I don't know if it was because of the way the script was written, the editing, the narrator has trouble reading but the narration was very stunted; pauses in the wrong places, to long a gap between words and very bad pronunciation of words made this an overall frustrating listen.

An involving story about a large fish attacking people in a lake. It's certainly no Jaws but hey, nothing really is! It's partly ruined by the narrator who seems to want to whisper some characters lines.

A decent creature feature.
