About this listen

A small town, marriage of convenience, single dad, sports romance from USA Today Bestselling Author Willow Aster

Penn Hudson. Sexy. Intense. Gorgeous.

The star running back of the Colorado Mustangs.

Well-known playboy and consummate bachelor.

We met in the Bahamas.

I knew exactly who he was.

He had no idea who I was.

Yet for a few blissful hours, it didn’t matter.

We had an unbelievable connection…

Something special that held so much promise.

Then I unexpectedly had to leave and never had a chance to say goodbye. Fast-forward to today, when I am about to see Penn again, and he’s going to find out exactly who he was kissing in the Bahamas.

I’m excited about my new job and returning to my hometown of Silver Hills.

But seeing him every day won't be easy, especially with the lingering memory of his touch and the attraction that still burns between us. When he faces an obstacle in adopting a young boy he’s mentored for years, I offer him a solution I never thought I’d make:

A fake marriage. He needs to show stability and a squeaky-clean public image, and I figure, how hard could it be to play house?

But as time goes by, nothing feels fake anymore. I’d always planned on getting married for love, but sometimes we make once-in-a-lifetime sacrifices.

I just hope I won’t be devastated in the process.

Crazy Love is book five in the standalone The Single Dad Playbook series.

It’s crazy to think that we are done with this series. I feel like ‘The End’ wasn’t just the end of a book but the end of an era. The Single Dad Playbook series has found a home in my heart from the very start and it feels a little like saying goodbye to my Framily. Penn snuck his way into this group from the beginning and never stopped trying to solidify his standing, he went so far as to become a Big Brother so he would have a kid too. Best decision ever! The bromance of Penn & Sam was the sweetest thing to watch. Penn has the biggest heart and would do anything for that boy. Meeting Addy and finding her again was kismet, and we quickly learn her heart is as big as Penn’s. These two couldn’t be more perfect for each other. They easily become a family but their hearts are so big that family just keeps growing. This family unit gives everything to each other and will melt your heart faster than one of Olaf’s hugs. (Yes, that’s a Frozen reference.) Surrounded by so much family support they pass every hurdle easily on their road to HEA. I adored the playfulness of Penn & Addy and how seamlessly they fell into their parental roles. It may have been a whirlwind romance, but family is chaos and for many it makes them thrive. There is absolutely too much to love in this story to properly express it all in a review. Suffice it to say that every Single Dad Playbook story will leave you with all the warm and fuzzy feelings. This is a series I will not soon forget and the final wrap-up was wonderful. I can only hope in years to come that Willow Aster dusts off her playbook and comes back for the next generation, goodness knows there’s enough Mustang’s kids for a slew of new books.

I loved the audio narrated by Connor Crais & Vanessa Edwin. These two easily fall into each new character and take on their entire persona with ease. Connor brought a special vulnerability to Penn, especially with his desperation to take care of Sam. Vanessa made Addy so easy to love, sinking into her sweet & determined nature. Their reading certainly pulled out all the emotions.

My heart! ♥️

Format: Audiobook - Dual narration by Connor Crais & Vanessa Edwin
Series / Standalone: Interconnected Standalone (The Single Dads Playbook series Book #5)
Tropes: Single Dad, Small Town, Marriage of Convenience

I have been waiting a long time for Penn and Sam’s story and it was so much better than I could have anticipated!! While this is very much a romance, it was so much more family oriented, which created an additional layer of emotions I wasn’t quite expecting. I really loved the way the author handled the forbidden aspect of the story and how the characters were with their family members and co-workers / teammates in regard to their relationship. It was refreshing to say the least. Sam has been hanging around the fringes for a while and having him finally get his story along side Penn and Addy was so satisfying. He literally stole the show and my whole heart in the process. I don’t want to give anything else away but if you’ve been following this series at all, and even if you are new to it, this one is not to be missed. My favorite of them all so far (I actually think I’ve said this after every book…lol).

This audio was absolutely amazing!! Connor Crais is a long time favorite of mine. I will never pass on a book he’s narrating and I’m so glad he was chosen to bring Penn to life. Vanessa Edwin’s voice had such a lyrical tone that I love. Both narrators did an amazing job but shout out to Vanessa Edwin’s portrayal of the children. I am forever grateful that I listened to this series on audio.

So bittersweet to get to the end of this series

Oh my goodness this book has so so so so many feels,in fact ALL the feels you could possibly want.
If you want a total swoon fest that is sweet, funny, emotional, sexy and just adorable then this book is for you.
Penn is a dream and Penn and Addy together are sickeningly perfect,I loved them.
Penn Hudson is the Running Back for the Colorado Mustangs,he has a reputation for being popular with the ladies,if you know what I mean.
But when he meets Addy when he is attending a wedding in the Bahamas, she changes everything for him. They just click and get along so well, plus they have so much chemistry between them. They share a kiss in paradise and then Addy disappears unexpectedly.
Addy is a dietician and her dad is the team coach to the Mustangs, and she has just got a job with the team,to sort out the players nutrition and diet to help them perform better...They have never forgotten eachother and that kiss.
When they see eachother again after that time in the Bahamas, you can imagine it being awkward.Penn is angry until Addy explains what happened to make her disappear.
But now they feel like they can't start anything because she now works for the Mustangs and her Dad is the coach.
But they cannot stay away from eachother, but Penn has alot on his plate he is trying to adopt an 11 year old boy called Sam..But the plan to do this is not going well as he is a single man with a busy job that takes him away. But Sam is unhappy and being neglected and abused so he is willing to do anything to take Sam away from the place he is staying.
This is when Addy steps in and suggests that her and Penn should get married to help Penn's chances of getting Sam into his home.
So they enter into a fake marriage...and this is when everything gets so much more interesting....
Penn changes so much from when we first met him through-out this series,Addy changes him and being a responsible Guardian to Sam and Winnie he is a wonderful Father figure and husband.
Addy sacrifices so much to make a life for all of them, she takes to being an instant mum gracefully and she is Amazing at it.
Being under one roof and getting closer it is inevitable that Penn and Addy take things further and they cross the line, and it is fireworks.!!
I also have to point out that the friendships in this story is one that I envy, between both guys and the girls, they are all so supportive and funny too..
This story is really emotional there are some scenes that had me so choked up,like when Penn is first called Dad by Sam and Winnie I just crumbled..To be honest this book never quit making me cry.
The Narration by Connor Crais and Vanessa Edwin is just flawless they captured the characters they played so perfectly, and I adored listening to them tell this story with such emotion and humour.
I have really enjoyed this series and Crazy Love is the ideal ending to the Single Dads Playbook ..
Willow Aster really knows how to write a beautiful Romance and I Loved it so much.

I am crazy in love with Willow Aster’s “The Single Dad Playbook” series, from “Mad Love” to “Crazy Love”, each book and single dad just as amazing as the other and this fifth book, the last standing single “want-to-be” dad is Penn Hudson. Penn, the star running back of the team and an honorary member of the group of friends/teammates who share their wisdoms of being a single dad and write it all in their playbook. Penn tutors Sam, a young boy in the foster system who is not having the easiest of it, but takes it all in stride. Seeing his hardships, Penn was to take custody of Sam, and is fighting the system to do just that. They do not look well on single guys and despite his success on the field and his high earnings, they do not see him as a suitable parent because of his time away from home, but he will not give up on him. When he was in the Bahamas for his friend’s wedding, he met her, the one who spark something in him and the one who got away, Addy. Addy was switching jobs and was in the Bahamas for a quick vacation before starting her new job, thanks to her dad. She knew who Penn was the moment they met, but she could not ignore the chemistry between them, and that kiss only solidified it. She had to leave, but she knew it would not be the last she’d see of him, and also knew nothing there would be no romantic relationship for them. Drawn to each other, they won’t be able to deny themselves very long, but when she sees what is going on with Sam and his dilemma with the children service caseworkers, she comes up with a solution, marriage. This book captivated my attention and tugged at my heartstrings the entire time. It broke my heart to see Sam and Winnie had to endure in the system, and I wish every foster kid had a Penn and Addie in their corner. It was great seeing and catching up with the other no longer single dads and their loves. I loved all the layers of this beauty of a story, and how it all plays out, with the perfect balance of drama, some heartwarming moments, heartbreaking moments, lots of heartfelt emotions and a marriage-of-convenience that was real and meant to be. Willow Aster, thank you for another wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧  Connor Crais and Vanessa Edwin were the perfect cast to bring these characters to life, giving each a voice that was fitting and was believable in every role. Crais’s portrayal of Penn was spot on, and he showcased every aspect of his personality beautifully. Edwin was just as fabulous portraying Addy, a natural in her role, showcasing her personalty perfectly too. Both were amazing voicing and performing the roles of the secondary/side characters, too. Their pacing and tone were just right for the story and they conveyed all their character’s emotions, having you feel them all. They are entertaining storytellers and their captivating performance rivets you to the story.

This is the fifth book in The Single Dad Playbook series — a standalone small-town romance. I absolutely love this series! Penn and Addy’s story is beautifully written — sweet, emotional, passionate, and heartwarming. They’re total opposites, but they complement each other. The kids are absolutely adorable, and the supporting cast is fantastic, adding even more depth and charm to the story. I liked the friendship in the story. It’s a lovely romance from start to finish. Connor Crais and Vanessa Edwin did an outstanding job bringing the story and characters to life. I highly recommend this series!
