About this listen

"Crash Test is one of the best sports romances I've ever read." — Rachel Reid, USA Today bestselling author of Heated Rivalry "A deeply romantic page-turner… I couldn't put it down." — Sarina Bowen, USA Today bestselling author of The New Guy Love and secrets collide in this emotional M/M contemporary romance in which a rising F1 star’s world spins out of control after a crash changes everything. Twenty-four-year-old Formula 1 driver Travis Keeping is halfway through an incredible racing season, with the championship well within his sights. But when a massive crash in Formula 2 leaves driver Jacob Nichols in critical condition, Travis’s world is flipped upside down. No one knows, but he and Jacob have been dating for almost a year. Now the only man he’s ever loved is clinging to life, his F1 team can’t understand why his performance is faltering, and he’s locked in a cold war with Jacob’s parents, who want him as far away from their son as humanly possible. Travis is sure everything will get better when Jacob wakes up, but he soon realizes he’s underestimated Jacob’s parents’ influence. As the F1 season barrels on, Travis and Jacob find themselves alone and miserable on opposite sides of the globe. But with some new friends by their sides, both drivers will be pushed outside of their comfort zones and onto a journey of self-discovery—one that just might lead them back to each other in the end. Truly. Narrators deserve awards for this - to make you feel so many things with acting out and conveying all the pain, fear, love (because its definitely acting, on another level). Exceptional book, original story🤍

Incredible

This book is really good. I binge a lot of MM romance, and I was starting to feel fatigued by endless inner monologues spelling out every possible thought a character might have. I wanted more narrative complexity—and this author absolutely delivers.
The story uses dual narration, but you stay with the initial character for a long stretch, long enough to form a strong alliance with him. The second character is someone I felt sympathy for early on, but it took time for him to truly win me over; he has a lot of growing to do, and that journey feels earned. The final third of the book is pure, delicious delayed gratification.
The dialogue is natural and clever, the side characters are fun and genuinely important, and the homophobic bigots are portrayed as truly awful. Although the story is set in the world of F1, there’s very little technical detail or race-by-race description—and none of it is missed. As a massive F1 fan, I found the setting believable and perfectly balanced.
The premise is intense from the start, unlike anything I’ve read before, and it’s handled exceptionally well. In fact, it hit hard enough that I had to take an hour-long break midway through to decompress by listening to a podcast ranking last year’s drivers.
The narrators are excellent. I initially bought this audiobook because I’m a fan of Gary Furlong, but the second narrator is outstanding as well. They deliver their own dialogue within the other character’s perspective, and it works brilliantly. Altogether, this is a passionate, beautifully presented story, and I’ll absolutely be seeking out more from both the author and the narrators.
