Summary

Nick Sullivan expects to be bored when his boss sends him on a routine surveillance operation but things aren’t what they seem. He soon discovers that the man he has been assigned to follow is a small player in a chain of ruthless criminals selling counterfeit drugs to the National Health Service. Nick vows to stop their evil trade but there are fortunes to be made and the men involved will do whatever it takes to protect their lucrative scam.

But Nick is stubborn and even when they almost succeed in killing him, he doggedly stays on the case. His determination to bring the men to justice takes a knock when he finds himself saddled with a small group of helpers: three ex soldiers, all eager to do their bit but with an average age of nearly 80. What they lack in physical ability they make up for in enthusiasm but Nick begins to wonder whether they will help or hinder him when the need to move fast literally becomes a matter of life or death.

Nicks in trouble again and we love it

Nick Sullivan never disappoints and this new book is again another great audio in his escapades whilst his girlfriend begs him to rethink his career choices. This time Nick is asked to investigate a man who’s future mother in law is convinced he is dodgy. As Nick gets in deeper and discovers a counterfeit drug supply in the NHS and starts to fear this time he may be in too deep as someone is out to finish him off once and for all he gets tied up with a geriatric army and things get even crazier. Loved it.

Fab! Great series

Really enjoyed this one. Great series and fab characters.
Dodgy pharmaceuticals are causing a crazy amount of harm and Nick gets in deep. Investigating the whys and where’s and with a few, erm helpers things don’t always go to plan straight away.
Narrator excellent as always, keeping the story ticking over. Ups & downs as needed.

Fab!

Highly entertaining thriller

This fifth outing for Nick Sullivan is just as entertaining as the previous books in the series. This time Nick is investigating a nasty businessman who is importing illegal drugs which have entered the NHS supply chain. Unfortunately counterfeit drugs are becoming a huge problem and Ms Forbes demonstrates this brilliantly by introducing a character whose wife has been badly affected by taking the counterfeit drugs unknowingly.

The plot moves swiftly; there's never a dull moment when Nick Sullivan is on the case. Despite the serious subject there's also lots of humour in the book. I absolutely loved the OAP army and their scenes made me laugh out loud. I'd love to see this series made into a TV show.

The book is brilliantly narrated by Craig Bowles who brings all the characters to life.

Enjoyable fast-paced thriller

As always, a very enjoyable listen. The fifth in the Nick Sullivan series, this is another fast-paced book with enjoyable characters, great action pieces, and excellent narration as always. The protafonist’s pithy quotes are the ome thing that have slightly irritated me about the series (and in fairness, they irritate the other characters too), and I’ve been glad to see them gradually reduce throughout the series, and by this book there were only a token couple. The characters otherwise are likeable, and the narrator really imbues them with life.

Great book

You always know when you start a Nick Sullivan thriller you're in for an exciting, action packed adventure and this certainly didn't disappoint.

A routine assignment to investigate someone, soon sees Nick on the trail of counterfeit drugs and those behind it. With some unlikely helpers, a group of retired army officers and a single mum can they bring the criminals to justice. They all have their own reasons for wanting to help, even if Nick doesn't want it.

These are great audio books to listen too, the narrator captures the characters really well and the story moves along at a great pace.

Book 5 and another fantastic read

I've now read all five of the Nick Sullivan books, or should I say listened to. Craig Bowles gives his usual smooth performance in the telling of this story of murder and subterfuge.
I have enjoyed this book every bit as much as each of the others and I thoroughly recommend it. Once started you won't want to stop.

Suspense

Nick Sullivan no:5 in the series is still working for the same organisation, although his girlfriend Annalise I'm sure would prefer him to leave. He has been put on a babysitting job as he sees it, trying to find out why a well to do woman is dating what seems to be an unlikely person that gives her mother some misgivings and they were right, as he obtains counterfeit drugs and sells them on to the NHS at a cheaper rate than the drug companies, and it's worldwide and of course people are dying because of it. Nick is an entertaining character always has some quotes or other which were a bit annoying in other novels but the author has curbed it in this instalment which is a bonus During his investigation, he somehow gets a posse of retirees and they are very willing to help him out, turns out he needs them as who takes notice of pensioners.
Karla Forbes spins a good yarn and with the narrator, Craig Bowles makes for a wonderful listen.
