Story
The Zombie War came unthinkably close to eradicating humanity. Max Brooks, driven by the urgency of preserving the acid-etched firsthand experiences of the survivors from those apocalyptic years, traveled across the United States of America and throughout the world, from decimated cities that once teemed with upwards of thirty million souls to the most remote and inhospitable areas of the planet. He recorded the testimony of men, women, and sometimes children who came face-to-face with the living - or at least the undead - hell of that dreadful time.

Mr George Smiley is small, podgy, and at best, middle-aged. He is disillusioned, wrestles with idleness, and has been deserted by his beautiful wife. He is also compassionate, ruthless, and a senior British intelligence officer in short-lived retirement from the Circus, the British Secret Service organisation situated in London. But Moscow centre has infiltrated a mole into the Circus, and it's more than likely the perpetrator is Karla, Smiley's old adversary and his opposite number in Moscow.

Story
Number-one best-seller John Grisham returns with his most suspenseful thriller yet. Given the importance of what they do, and the controversies that often surround them, and the violent people they sometimes confront, it is remarkable that in the history of the USA only four active federal judges have been murdered. Judge Raymond Fawcett just became number five. I did not know Judge Fawcett, but I know who killed him, and why. I am a lawyer, and I am in prison. It's a long story.

On their current home world, these elves are hard pressed by a ravaging demon horde, and what was once a huge empire has been reduced to a handful of survivors. The cornerstone of taredhel lore is the tale of their lost origins in the world they call simply 'Home', a place lost in the mists of time. “I didn’t plan to kill anyone. I wasn’t totally against the idea, either. Sometimes things just fall that way, and either you roll with it or it rolls over you. Letting the bad guys win isn’t how I roll.”
Meet Joe Ledger, Baltimore PD, attached to a Homeland task force … who’s about to get a serious promotion.

Unnecessary
If you've already read PATIENT ZERO then you don't need this.
If you haven't read PATIENT ZERO, this very very slightly helps kick start things, but 90% of what you hear on this 19 minute mini story, gets repeated later in the main novel anyway.
While not bad, it's just way too short, and way to much of what you get in the main book anyway.

Disappointing
I love the Joe Ledger books, but this was disappointing. At only 19 minutes, you would think that there would need to be something special about this story to justify it being published at all. That is not the case. Much of this is word-for-word the same as the first few paragraphs of Patient Zero. Save your money and skip Countdown.

This adds no value to 'Patient Zero'
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Someone who is unsure if they want to listen to 'Patient Zero'?
Would you ever listen to anything by Jonathan Maberry again?
Yes - Patient Zero was AWESOME
Which character – as performed by Ray Porter – was your favorite?
Didn't have one
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Dissappointment, anger? Other tha a vague intro to Mr. Church this was $3.95 to listen to word for work parts of Patient Zero. There was nothing in here worth listening to if you are going to listen to Patient Zero.
Any additional comments?
Don't spend the $3.95 - just get Patient Zero

Really not necessary
They call this a prequel but it's more like the prologue from Countdown.
Imagine a physical book and the first 3 pages before the chapters begin, that's what this is.
If your expecting info on Ledger you won't find it in this. Everything in this short is covered in the beginning of Countdown.
Don't waste your money/credit trust me!!!
