About this listen

An unhealthy friendship takes a sinister turn. Almost everyone has a friend whom they barely tolerate. It’s that person whose jokes are always annoying, who tries to butt in on nights out, or who keeps coming over unannounced. For Martha, that friend is her new neighbor, Jennie.

Jennie worships Martha. She loves everything about her: Martha’s house, Martha’s impressive children, Martha’s attractive husband, even the way Martha dresses. But when Jennie starts changing, gaining confidence and succeeding in love and work, Martha’s life begins to come apart at the seams.

Gillian White’s Copycat is a biting suburban satire about a fraught relationship between frenemies taken to its most extreme conclusion.

Good enough story, the narration would have been good if they had stuck to their native accent. It was just a bit weird did became ‘dawg’, Graham was pronounce ‘Gram’ etc. it became a weird mix of Home Counties/ london/ transatlantic accent.

Good yarn but hire a British narrator when the whole book uses an English accent. It gets annoying otherwise.

I really love Gillian White, there's a lot of building of characters & great plot development, which I enjoy, and this was no different.

Plus the usual dramatic and shocking 🙀 ending

What IS a huge shame is the lamentable narration, it really does Gillian White's books no favours.

Many of her books are free on audible, but the poor narration on most of these puts me off buying more of her books.... shame 😥

Great if you can get past the narration

Subject matter of Limerence/Erotomania addressed - well done as so many suffer in silence. Ashame the narration was dreadful, accents all over the place and lack of character continuity.

Good Story, appalling narration.

The narration was awful. She sounded like she was chewing bricks !
Soe of the characterisation were so whiney I found it hard to listen
Did listen to the end, but found the conclusion totally unbelievable and out of character

Terrible narration and pronunciation

This has to be the worse narrating I have heard in a while! The screechy childlike voices really spoil the story

Odd narration. Slow story
