About this listen

Detective Sergeant Aaron Fowler of the Metropolitan Police doesn’t count himself a gullible man. When he encounters a graphologist who deduces people’s lives and personalities from their handwriting with impossible accuracy, he needs to find out how the trick is done. Even if that involves spending more time with the intriguing, flirtatious Joel Wildsmith than feels quite safe.

Joel’s not an admirer of the police, but DS Fowler has the most irresistible handwriting he’s ever seen. If the policeman’s tests let him spend time unnerving the handsome copper, why not play along?

But when Joel looks at a powerful man's handwriting and sees a murderer, the policeman and the graphologist are plunged into deadly danger. Their enemy will protect himself at any cost, unless the sparring pair can come together to prove his guilt and save each other.

The tension was quite exhausting at times. I felt as though there was to be no way out of the complicated situation in which the two main characters found themselves. Clever and satisfying conclusion.

Twisting tale, beautifully told

Not my favourite of hers, but a fun read nonetheless. And I always enjoy Collins as a narrator.

Always love KJ Charles

A great book for a long coach journey. Likeable collection of characters and fun journey they went on.

Another good tale from K J Charles

Enjoyed it though it is darker/more graphic/more unnerving than I expected but that makes sense since Fowler is a serious crimes detective. I found the mystery quite intriguing and enjoyed their solving it.

In-depth and consistent disability rep - one of the main characters is an amputee.

The main characters are actually pretty decent communicators with each other, all things considered - apologise eloquently when they ought and whatnot.

Lovely happy and hopeful ending

Great and have never read anything with a similar premise before

I'm a fan of both so I've had this on pre order for a while and I've already read the book. A little more melancholy than some of her books, but tender and sweet nonetheless. Rather hope it's the first in a series but don't think it is. It's a complete story and at a good pace. Cornell Collins is always a class act, though I did listen to him a smidgen faster but that's just my own preference.

k. J. Charles and great narration- what's more to ask for?
