About this listen

When Ryan Stone’s aunt asks for help with her bookstore, he leaves the city and moves to the small town of Grace, at least temporarily. He’s so busy cleaning and restocking the store he almost doesn’t notice the handsome mechanic that always seems to show up at the park at the same time he has his lunch.

Every day for the past few weeks, Charlie Castle has been going to the park across the street from the auto shop, hoping for a chance to meet the new guy from the bookstore with the shock of red hair and a penchant for pink sugar cookies.

Ryan wasn’t looking for love when he met Charlie, but meeting Charlie might just give him everything he never knew he needed.

I read Cookie and I loved it, hearing it narrated takes it to an entirely new level, it allowed me to take the time to sit back and really listen to the dialogue, to see Charlie and Ryan, to feel myself browsing the bookshop and Oh My Goodness, what I wouldn't give to be able to taste one of those cookies!

Charlie and Ryan are opposites. Charlie has grown up in Grace, didn't go to College, simply continued learning about cars and mechanics working in the family garage. His parents and brothers are there with him and they are an incredibly supportive family, the heart of the town too. Grace also has a bookshop, owned by Ryan's aunt. When he finishes college, in Sacramento, his home town, and hears she might sell it, he moves to Grace to work there and find out if he wants to buy it. He's so preoccupied with the shop and the potential decisions he has to make he doesn't notice Charlie until the day that he does, the day that changes everything.

Charlie thought Ryan was cute but was too shy to make the first move. Ryan isn't sure they'll have much in common but these two are made for one another and they quickly realise it. Sit back and enjoy the story, allow the plot to flow around you, the love to draw you in and the sheer joy of it all to unfold around you as you listen. I recommend the audio and the print version of this, why choose, take both!.

Audiobook - good narration, which fits the story well.
Story - 3.5 stars. Absolutely no angst, with very sweet characters. I particularly enjoyed the descriptions of the different date activities, which included such things as axe throwing.

This a really sweet, feel good romance.
Ryan moves to small town Grace to help his aunt run her bookstore.
He gains a not so secret admirer in Charlie.
He works in his family's garage and they absolutely love each other and always joke around.
This just goes into overdrive when they find out about the crush.
Ryan is so busy working in the bookstore he's oblivious to Charlie's crush until an incident with a sandwich collides their worlds.
Charlie has also nicknamed Ryan cookie because he obviously loves them, especially pink ones.
Throughout this time Ryan has to decide if he's going back to the city or if he'll stay and take over his aunt's bookstore.
They start helping each other and slowly getting to know one another better which leads to moving in together and a dog.
Guy Veryzer did an amazing job narrating and bringing these characters to life.

The book follows the sweet love story between Charlie and Ryan (Cookie). A charming story featuring strangers to lovers and a small town in winter, without any angst or drama at all (to a level that might even border on boring).
The narration was nice, but it failed to liven up the story.
