About this listen

In the frozen wilderness of Antarctica, a team of researchers makes a shocking discovery: a century-old ship buried deep in the ice. As they begin to excavate the vessel, they realize that it holds a dark secret—inside, they find the frozen remains of a crew, long dead from a mysterious plague.

Alerted to the event, an agent of the Outlier division is dispatched to investigate. Discovering that the ship was part of Shackleton's expedition to the South Pole and that the plague on board is unlike any they have seen before. With the help of the only survivor from the research team, they must race against time to unravel the mystery of the plague and prevent it from being unleashed on the world once again.

But as they dig deeper into the secrets of its past, they soon realise that there was a darker side to the expedition involving an ancient ritual and a powerful man who would stop at nothing to possess it. Can they uncover the truth and prevent disaster, or will they become the latest victims of the deadly plague?

Filled with danger, adventure, and time-traveling twists and turns, “Contagion” is a thrilling tale of survival in a world where the past and the future are intertwined.

A great addition to the series and I loved the new characters. The narrator is on point as always!

Expanding the cast!

The stand out feature of this book was the beautiful writing and narration. Having read many audio books this has surpassed all in Andrew’s writing and Rupert’s narration.

The story expanded ever further into the world of the order and the realms and highlighted how too much power can be destructive but controlled it can be a gift

Great to see the characters of Lyra, Josh, Caitlin, Rufius and the others ever developing and the only reason I gave the story 4/5 was the slightly rushed ending which left me without a complete explanation but that may be just me!

Looking forward to the next instalment. There will be one won’t there?

Classy well written book

Hastie has moved on from the the teen novel tone of the the first five books (although they were enjoyable). This is far more assured, better plotted and his characters are developing well. I hope he sticks to stand alone stories now, it is less exhausting!

Much more mature and assured well done

I pre-ordered this title based on a full 5 star review of the other 5 books which I thoroughly enjoyed.

50% of this installment seems to be taken from the recent Covid pandemic with some alterations. There are some imaginative twists in an ironic race against time for the creative 50% which I did enjoy.

A real let down if I'm honest. Feels like an original idea that was hijacked and packed/stuffed with shit.

Performance was on point and perfect.

Lazy Effort Unfortunately
