Summary

My husband. My monster.

The truth isn’t always what it seems.
Lia doesn’t realize that, but she will. Soon.
I chose this life. This road. This twisted arrangement.
For her, I made a deal with the devil.
For her, I toyed with fate and death.
There’s no going back.
I stole her and like any thief, I won’t return her.
Lia is my addiction. My obsession. My love.
Mine.

This book is part of a trilogy and is not standalone.

The third book continues an overall interesting and engaging plot, and it is clear that the author is highly skilled at storytelling. There is a strong sense of direction across the trilogy, and the narrative itself keeps you wanting to see how things unfold.

However, I found it difficult to connect with the relationship between the main characters. The emotional dynamic did not feel rooted in love or mutual connection. Instead, the female character is portrayed as deeply distressed throughout much of the story, crying in many situations, before, during, and after intimacy, as well as in both conflict and calmer moments.

This created an overall impression of a very unhappy and emotionally strained relationship. Rather than feeling invested in their bond, I found myself experiencing concern and discomfort, as though I was reading about a deeply troubled marriage rather than a meaningful romantic connection.

Although I can appreciate the author’s talent and the strength of the plot, the portrayal of the central relationship made it difficult for me to fully enjoy the trilogy as a whole.

A Compelling Ending, but an Unsettling Love Story

I was enthralled from beginning to end by this trilogy! Rarely do I find a continuous series where absolutely no part feels unnecessary, and this trilogy was exactly that, every single chapter had me hooked! Three books felt like one! I actually wanted more at the end! The narration is amazing!! I loved both narrators portrayal of Adrian and Lia. Just chef’s kiss!

Perfect ending to this perfect trilogy!

Baring in mind this is the conclusion to a trilogy this is going to be the barest of reviews. What I enjoyed about this was far more chapters in Adrian's POV and how nail bitingly tense it was. We get a tonne of answers to the questions raised in previous books and we also get more of the angst, the spice and the dynamic between Adrian and Lia. If dark mafia books are your gig, then give this trilogy a chance, but be prepared to go on a journey. I volunteered to listen and review a complimentary copy of this. All opinions are my own.

Ms Kent knows how to wrap up her series

So dark and happy for Lia being into that, to each his own. Her development was nail-biting but all hail the queen! Hoped to see Adrian in a LOL moment in the end though... he still has a long way to go (always so in control, just lose is with your wife ffs) Great series, great writer, couldn't relate with the characters this time, sorry x
