Story
Elena Fairchild is a teacher at one of the state’s new elite schools. Her daughters are exactly like her: beautiful, ambitious and perfect. A good thing, since the recent mandate that’s swept the country is all about perfection. Now everyone must undergo routine tests for their quotient, Q, and any children who don’t measure up are placed into new government schools. Instead, teachers can focus on the gifted.

Story
How do you fight an enemy when they're inside your mind? A gargantuan glass-walled tower looms over a deadly wilderness. They say it's all that's left. The Tower's survival is humanity's survival, and each must serve it faithfully.... Twenty-year-old Liana Castell must be careful what she thinks. Her life is defined by the number on her wristband - a rating out of 10 awarded based on her usefulness and loyalty to the Tower, and monitored by a device in her skull. A device that reports forbidden thoughts.

Story
I celebrated when vampires were declared extinct. Those beasts had preyed on humanity for millennia, committing senseless, brutal murders. Like the rest of my colleagues at the Occult Bureau, I looked forward to a world where we could all sleep at night - where constant cover-up jobs were no longer required to keep the public calm and unaware. But the end of vampires wasn't the end of our problems. It was only the beginning.

Summary
There will come a day when love will mark you as a traitor. In a society where emotions are nothing and function is everything, Avlyn Lark is just trying to blend in. She's lucky to be alive, unlike her twin brother Ben who died when they were four. And she's lucky to have been taken from her biological parents and assigned to a Level Two family. But mastering her emotions? That's a problem, especially when a rebel bomb blows up a building right in front of her. Then on Configuration Day, Avlyn's official transition to adulthood, she starts seeing strange visions. And instead of being placed with a low-level tech company where she could hide away, she's hired by Genesis Technologies, the government firm that monitors every citizen. Now, instead of blending in, Avlyn fears she'll be exposed for what she really is. If Gen Tech finds out how deeply she feels, it will ruin her life. And if they find out about her secret meetings with a mysterious but handsome member of the rebel forces, her life will be more than ruined. It will be over.

3.5 reconfigurating STARS ★★★✬✩
This book is for you if… it has been a while since you were hunger gaming or diverging. It's obviously not quite as good, but still pleasant. Much is to be expected from the sequel ⤐ Overall. I realised I had the entire trilogy at my disposal when I drew this for the Devour your TBR challenge and guess what I'll be doing. Darn right, I'll binge this series. By the end of the book, I realised that there's a lot less romance in there than one would expect according to the synopsis. I really liked that because it gives air to the plot which was very gripping. Average characters are not always a bad thing. I wouldn't say any of the MCs or SCs are remarkable. They were touchable and distinguishable from one another. World(-building). I have to admit I'm not sure I had trouble falling into this world because I didn't always pay proper attention (shame on me) or because - right, this is bullshit. I admit it. I didn't pay proper attention in the beginning and I have no excuses, okay? Shame on me! The world of Configured is amazing and realistic, I enjoyed it very much. ⤐ What’s happening. ‘No one should die for the right to love. That kind of freedom is worth fighting for.’ When your only worth to society is your intelligence, how much does it take for you to leave it behind and join the ranks of the rebels, where love and affection are as natural as breathing? Not much once it's obvious there's more going wrong than right, Avalyn has to realise. Con: ⇢ minimum social backup ⇢ each step is monitored ⇢ who can be trusted? Pro: ⇢ new allies = emotional support ⇢ fighting for what you believe in feels darn good ⇢ one special new ally = very yummy _____________________ writing quality + easy of reading = 3* pace = 4* plot/story in general = 4* plot development = 4* characters = 3* enjoyability = 4* insightfulness = 2*

Is Intelligence Greater than Emotions?
This was an intriguing start to the Configured series! 120 years into the future, the world is run by Direction, people are sorted into three levels based on their intelligence and wanting freedom or love can get you killed. Avlyn was separated from her brother at birth, raised by adoptive parents, given level two status, and given a privileged life. After her brother’s death, she begins to see his memories. She’s recruited by Affinity, the rebellion, and her world turns upside down as emotions and revelations start to flood her. Her character felt a little flat, weak, and uncertain of herself outside of her ability to code, but during her journey, her personality and self esteem grew. I loved that we were learning the truth about her world as she was and it kept me on my toes. Avlyn and Meyer’s relationship felt realistic and it wasn’t instalove- I enjoyed watching it develop throughout the book. Jenetta did a wonderful job creating this dystopian world, the technology, the class system, and how it ran. Lillie did a really good job with this narration. She spoke a a steady pace and used distinct voices for each character. I liked that she brought the newness of emotions for Avlyn and the emotionless dystopian world to life! *I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book
I have to say I really enjoyed this book. Set in a future where people are put into 3 different levels depending on how clever and useful there are deemed. Averlyn is a level 2.Her birth mother is a level 1.As she is a level 2 she was given to a level 2 couple to raise. People don't fall in love and get married they have spouse pairings where they are matched to suitable people who they think will produce the clever level 2 or 3 offspring. Brilliant series and I don't say this often as I usually don't like the narrator doing mens voices. But this narrator was really good. Very believable and a good range of emotion and voices. A very good start to this series. Now on to the next one. I received a author copy of this book for an honest review. This opinion is all my own. I would definitely recommend this book.

Wish there was more, ended abruptly in the middle
The story really pulls you in, it was a fast read and I was SO enjoying it, until it abruptly ended in the oddest spot. I initially thought maybe I'd skipped ahead or that there was an engineering error. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I typically won't purchase a trilogy without all parts being published first for this reason, but even so, not all trilogy's leave you hanging right in the middle of a scene though. I hope that the other books come out quickly. It's definitely a series that needs all parts before spending credits. Once all books are out, I expect to be able to recommend the series whole heartedly.

Great new trilogy and new author to watch!
This book drew me in right away and it has everything u like in a dystopian novel like action and little romance and a lot of tension! Character development was very good and I couldn’t wait to reach for the next novel! The only draw back is that I wished it was longer! The narrator was very good with all voices and allowed me to get lost in the novel! This is a new author to watch!

Dystopia with hacker twist
This book's world building is the one we're all quite familiar with, a perfect society with villanous leadership. However, Avelyn isn't your usual character, with her tech abilities that bring her closes to the heart Direction's motives and the race against time to stop them, before they cause further damage to the people. Direction's villainy is one that is self serving and their way of keeping face was impressive, manipulating Affinity's messgwe to look like a threat and constant effort to corner them till they are obsolete. I enjoyed Avelyn undercover excursions a lot, it was exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time. But ot took a while before we got to that and spent most of the book with Avelyn finding snippets of Directions agenda and even her bio family's mystery. with how the book ended, I'm interested to see where it will lead to next.

Amazing read
I started this book after a long hiatus from reading. In that time, I'd periodically pick up a book, but nothing could hold my interest. This one will have you glued to it from start to finish. It's especially interesting right now, during COVID19, to read about a society after a deadly virus. It makes it feel much less like dystopia, and more like a real-life foreshadowing. I was a bit skeptical in the beginning, because while the story was gripping, I feel like they didn't develop WHY Avalyn started to help Affinity. She was a model citizen who lost her brother to a virus when she was young, and had been placed with higher level citizens to raise her to give her a better life. She is given a very important and prestigious job, and values many aspects of society. Then a boy comes along and she throws that all to the wind to become a rebel against the government? It comes out later that the government is cruel, but this comes out after she made the decision to work with Affinity. Other than that small question of character development, the rest of the book will have you on your toes and truly invested in the story and the characters within it. I would definitely recommend for anybody that enjoyed the Divergent series or any other popular YA dystopia books!
