The honesty of JD and his ability to reflect and keep his mind open but also chart a course intellectually in faith that supports him and his family and gives coherence and comfort to them and their chosen family and community. Most of all, he sounds like a decent man like the rest of us trying to be a good father, a good husband and a good human being

Thoughtful and interesting account of JD Vance path to Catholicism and of his family life during the period. The negative way in which his Munich speech was greeted demonstrates how much his intervention was needed here in Europe. I hope we will receive further help by the future President Vance.

I could listen to this over and over and learn something new everyone. I like the man, his family, his beliefs and more so that he has listened to their viewpoints. He is well read and has a brain on him. There’s no arrogance here or an underlying goal to belittle anyone., just faith and a lot of love. Bravo Sir.

Concise and far sighted summing up of the outlook of one of the most significant politicians of his generation. Vance is so grounded and sensible in sharp contrast to the growing extremism of many of his political opponents. My only concern for him is that due to his ability to reason and debate he will attract the same derangement disorder - and violence - from those who lack both.

If you read this book rather than listen to the author read it, you may fare better. But listening to jd Vance talk about Catholicism is like watching a fish ride a bicycle. It does not ring true. Understatement. He tries arrogantly to make a universal sweep thru philosophy and religion and the state of the world, quoting bible passages along the way, as if he is the only person with an original and insightful idea. There’s too much Protestant evangelical in him yet he wants the badge of Catholicism. He fails to demonstrate or discuss the key teaching of love that neighbour as thyself. He utterly lacks true humility and humble compassion for others in the world. And no discussion about how he can stand within a corrupt and chaotic administration that is causing so much division and strife in the world. Avoid this book.
