Summary

For 26-year-old rent boy, Chance Matthews, surviving day-to-day in San Francisco is difficult enough. Then an ill-fated road trip to Wyoming to search for his biological father throws his life into a tailspin. When a string of catastrophes leaves him stranded and desperate, help comes from the last person he'd expect. His knight in shining armor is everything he could want and then some, but Chance is sure a man like that would never want someone like him. That's the stuff of fairy tales, and he stopped believing in those a long time ago.

Coming Home is the ninth book in Alexa Land's best-selling Firsts and Forever series, but each book can stand alone, so jump in anywhere. Includes graphic sex and explicit language and is intended for adults only.

It just goes on and on

My first and last novel by this author. It is just an array of occurrences without any arc, drama or thrill. The characters are shallow and the secondary characters are over the top and take up too many chapters. The emotions are told, not felt and to sum it up: it was just boring.

Somewhat gut wrenching

A so so story which starts out interesting but towards the end just turns gut wrenchingly puke worthy. Both my partner and I in bed kept wanting it to end partly due to the narrators emphasis on anything which can be turned sickeningly lovey and partly the story...

Bad "Pretty Woman" for gays

If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?

Other than the narration of this book which is excellent given it's Greg Tremblay, the story itself is woefully inadequate in the extreme. Isn’t this supposed to be book 9 in a series? I would have expected something more unless this is a very quick cut and paste job. Issues were as follows:
1. The characters are unrealistic and one dimensional - either good or bad with nothing in between and no attempt to make them multi-faceted. Also, the way the characters react to the events of the story are unrealistic and ill-conceived. For someone to have a relationship with a prostitute, they ought to have at least some emotional or other baggage - not a prince in shining armour. Furthermore, all the supporting characters are essentially filled in with “quirky” – and that’s it.
2. The story is essentially the movie “Pretty Woman” for gays but without the nuance and plot – or even less if such a thing were possible.
3. The main characters is just a victim and is difficult to sympathise with.

Have you listened to any of Greg Tremblay’s other performances? How does this one compare?

He's great as always. 5 stars.

A wonderful tale

This is a wonderful story, full of laughter, sorrow and a whole bucketful of love.
