A story which passes through two decades, two people who are from opposite lives who dance around each other while they both dedicate their time fighting the politics and prejudice of the AIDS epidemic. A deeply moving historical fiction highlighting the plight of AIDS victims and the people who fought to get them help. The story focuses on two women who fall in love in the fight, but end up in a fight to be together. Initially confusing with the time jump to the past, and lack of clear chapters, once the format is understood, it is a very good story, and of course, the narration is beautiful as it always is with Abby Craden. I felt the book ended abruptly and would have loved to hear an epilogue or expansion to bring the story to an end
