About this listen

After six months in Regiment purgatory, SAS loner Jamie 'Geordie' Carter has been assigned to a new squadron. Tasked with flushing out the troop's bad apples, he's never been more exposed. And when someone tries to silence him, Carter is unexpectedly pulled from the team and given an even deadlier assignment.

Viktor Koltrov is a charismatic Ukrainian general, and the second-most popular man in the country after the president. His stunning victories against the Russian military machine have made him the public face of a resurgent Ukraine - and a top target for the Kremlin's assassins.

Now Carter must protect Koltrov as he embarks on a sensitive operation to flush out high-ranking traitors in the Ukrainian government. Eliminating the fifth columnists is vital if Kyiv is to defeat the invaders.

But keeping the general alive in a war zone won't be easy, even for a hardened Regiment man. And as Koltrov hunts down his prey, Carter begins to realise that the infiltration of the establishment runs far deeper than he had ever imagined.

If Carter's going to win, he'll need all of his wits and survival skills to stay ahead of the danger. Because the biggest threat isn't from Moscow. It's from the enemy within...©2023 Chris Ryan (P)2023 Bonnier Books UK

yh story seemed OK, but it was weird for Chris ryan, seemed like it was lazily put together. and sadly the narrator didn't fit the bill. not say he ain't good, but still

OK, but not chris Ryan's usual

Great story, with some good plot twists.
Enjoyed the listen relevant to current events in Ukraine.
If you need some adventure to save you from the office 9-5 then Chris Ryan has you covered. This had me on the edge of my seat. Great story telling with excellent descriptions transporting you into the story.
Great adventure and escapism.
Would recommend and buy for a friend.

Great new read from Chris Ryan! Worth a read.

As a huge Chris Ryan fan I felt this book lacked the excitement of all his past books. It’s still good but not up to his own standards, if you haven’t read his other books, go with them first.

I really wanted to like it but…

I’ve been a huge fan of Chris Ryan books and audiobooks for a while now. Whilst the story is as expected, the narration didn’t live up to the usual standards. It was like listening to the male version of Siri narrate the story. Once I got used to the voice however, I did enjoy the book although would have preferred the narration of Michael Fenner or Paul Thornley or such like.

Narration needs to be better.

This is a very easy read or story to listen to. The plot and buildup follow a known format, and you understand how it all is connected halfway through. I have been a huge fan of Ryen for a long time, but this is disappointing, I have to say. Second, the main character, Carter! supposed to be in the service for nine years at the regiment... how on earth did he survive so long? He would either been kicked out long ago or even dead by his much smarter enemies.

You have read the plot before!
