Summary

Written by an L. A. County homicide detective and former atheist, Cold-Case Christianity examines the claims of the New Testament using the skills and strategies of a hard-to-convince criminal investigator.

Christianity could be defined as a “cold case”: it makes a claim about an event from the distant past for which there is little forensic evidence. In Cold-Case Christianity, J. Warner Wallace uses his nationally recognized skills as a homicide detective to look at the evidence and eyewitnesses behind Christian beliefs. Including gripping stories from his career and the visual techniques he developed in the courtroom, Wallace uses illustration to examine the powerful evidence that validates the claims of Christianity.

A unique apologetic that speaks to listeners’ intense interest in detective stories, Cold-Case Christianity inspires listeners to have confidence in Christ as it prepares them to articulate the case for Christianity.

J. Warner Wallace: My new favorite Policeman

I have long been a believer of the claims of the Bible, and have even put them to the test. Mr. Wallace, however, lays out the case for not just the possibility of the claims of the Gospels, but that they are the only reasonable theory for the controvercial history outlying the early days of Christianity. Wallace shows us how the Justice System approaches evidence, eyewitnesses, bias, and a plethora of other topics; applying this approach to the New Testament documents. I've been given a new look at those ancient texts through this book.

I could not reccommend this book more emphatically! Please listen!

Detailed and packed with written flavor

I absolutely love that the author read this book. The sub textual tones in many of his phrasing choices really added the extra punch to the mountain of facts and explanations he included. This book is filled with an amazing amount of apologetics! I absolutely loved this book.

Wow, this was good

This was a good book. This book was recommended to me by another Christian. Wallace uses his experience as an investigator to examine the Bible. Wow, this was good. If you like true crime tv shows, cold case tv shows or forensics TV shows this book is for you! The same investigative skills are put to work. It is really good!

Solid evidence.

As explained in Jim’s book, the concept of evidence beyond the shadow of a doubt, is illusory at best. How can any person be 100% sure of a matter? Aren’t we all making decisions everyday leaning heavily on what we believe based on what’s available, or experiential? How many, only conclude on a matter, once everything that could possibly be know is know?
I appreciate Jim’s thorough presentation of how the most reasonable conclusions are draw from carefully and honestly looking at the evidence.
Certainly anyone can deny what they see for a number of reasons, but denied truth still remains true.
The very least a reader will gain from this book, is an organized way to think through decisions.
The very most one can gain is a desire to know God more with every breath.
Thank you Jim, the change I’ve experienced from listening to you book has motivated me to share with others.

Great Book

I loved the book. As someone who grew up in a Christian household and trying to find God again as an adult I found this book valuable. J.W.W does a good job with his delivery abe backstory. My only sticking point is it seems like he assumes you will automatically trust the gospels once he lays out his points, therefore everything automatically will click for you. I like this approach, but for someone skeptical like myself it's a little more complicated than that. Maybe I'll pick up a little more perspective when I listen to it again. I really enjoyed hearing his story from a skeptic-turned-believers viewpoint, and I enjoyed the investigative spin on it. Definitely would recommend!

Great book for all who question the authenticity of the New Testament

A great audio book experience. Our gentle author reads it himself, and this imparts a sense of real life urgency when he recounts the details of crimes he’s solved. And he discusses Jesus, the Gospel authors, and all whose stories are told in the New Testament the same way. As real people who lived, died, and mattered. And the One who transcended that.

But let me say to any non-believer who may be considering this book, it is not too preachy. And my impression at the end was that he leaves it to the reader/listener to render their own verdict. This is not Theology. He gets into all the subjects of ancient texts, archeological finds, contemporary corroboration, etc, But since he spent his career as a police officer it is discussed in a non-academic way so you don’t feel you need a PhD to follow along.

As you see, I really enjoyed this book. And I bought both the print edition and the kid’s version as gifts already. Going to try and gift an audio version too, but haven’t done that yet. If you read or listen I hope you enjoy it too.
