not as good as reviews led me to believe

this audio book starts of quite suprisingly depressing. it focuses on how many people die from depression, and it states it several times which I don't think is helpful at all. I've only managed to chapter 6 but this feels more like it's aimed at people already working with a cbt specialist...I thought it would be a more stand alone form of help.

Wonderful audio-book

Most of the audio-books that I like is, easy to understand and very clear. this simple guide helped me to learn how do I retrain my brain and mind.Most of the time, we just rely to ourselves to fix or solve something. But now, because of enough knowledge given by this book about depression and anxiety I can now help others and myself.

Good basic book on CBT

I read this book simply because I wanted a better understanding of what CBT was. This book fulfilled that purpose. At under 3 hours in length, those considering this book should understand that it is a good, but basic overview. It will not answer all questions or provide detailed how-tos. I'm happy I listened to it.

A competent list of tools

This book provided an ample amount of techniques and information for developing a customized self help strategy or, what i personally found very helpful, guidelines and cues which help give direction and focus to sessions with a licensed therapist.

Poor

The author lacks a thorough understanding of the subject he is trying to describe. I switched off mentally when Freud was presented as a psychologist. In addition, the narrator is very monotone.

I find this book insightful.

I find this book insightful. Not many people understand depression or other mental conditions. For people who suffer these conditions, it is hard to find ways to cope. I myself deal with anxiety and stress. I do not know how to manage my thoughts and feelings well. This really helped me a lot.
